"Table 4" of "Quadrupole anisotropy in dihadron azimuthal correlations in central d+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=200 GeV"

2014

Ratio of momentum anisotropy, v2, to initial coordinate anisotropy, epsilon2, versus mid-rapidity charged-particle multiplicity, dNch/deta. These are the data points for d+Au at 200 GeV. The epsilon2 values are determined using a Glauber model under various assumptions about the nucleon-nucleon interaction. The first y-value is for nucleons as point-like centers, the second y-value is for nucleons smeared as a Gaussian with a sigma of 0.4 fm, and the third y-value is for nucleons as disks with R = 1 fm.

Governance, foreign aid, and Chinese foreign direct investment

2022

This article examines how Chinese foreign aid interacts with the quality of the host country's governance in shaping Chinese state-owned enterprises' (CSOEs') foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa. By analyzing the firm-level greenfield FDI data of CSOEs between 2003 and 2014 and distinguishing between China's official development assistance and less concessional forms of Chinese foreign aid, we reveal two main findings. First, the quality of the host country's governance negatively affects CSOEs' FDI. Second, other official aid and loans from China negatively moderate the relationship between the quality of the host country's governance and FDI by CSOEs. Specifically, the tendency for …

The relationship between institutions and value creation in software development models

2018

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyse the possibility for firms to consider institutional settings to systematically direct dispersed individual efforts of discovery and invention towards objects (products or processes) of their interest in order to enhance their value creation capacity. Design/methodology/approach The authors conduct a comparative analysis of the different institutional settings within which software products are invented and produced – closed producer-centred model, open user-centred model, and hybrid interactive producer-user model. Findings The authors draw indications regarding the possibility to design institutional settings for value creation and the poten…

Attraction factors of shopping centers: Effects of design and eco-natural environment on intention to visit

2017

Purpose People visit malls not only to buy a product they need but also to enjoy the atmosphere or environment of the shopping center. Based on design and eco-natural environment, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the attraction factors of shopping centers. Design/methodology/approach The sample comprised 449 consumers from 25 different shopping centers in Bogota. The structural equation model (AMOS) enables the authors to discuss the influence of the design of green and natural spaces in the commercial management of shopping centers, given its positive and significant effect on the intention to visit. Findings Shopping centers are, by definition, spaces with a high level of design o…

Estimation of Value-at-Risk on Romanian Stock Exchange Using Volatility Forecasting Models

2013

This paper aims to analyse the market risk (estimated by Value-at-Risk) on the Romanian capital market using modern econometric tools to estimate volatility, such as EWMA, GARCH models. In this respect, I want to identify the most appropriate volatility forecasting model to estimate the Value-at-Risk (VaR) of a portofolio of representative indices (BET, BET-FI and RASDAQ-C). VaR depends on the volatility, time horizon and confidence interval for the continuous returns under analysis. Volatility tends to happen in clusters. The assumption that volatility remains constant at all times can be fatal. It is determined that the most recent data have asserted more influence on future volatility th…

High bit rate optical pulses sources generation and microstructured chalcogenide fibers characterizations

2011

This memory of thesis s' registered voter in the context of the FUTUR project financed by l' ANR and concerning the development of optical functions for the high bit-rate transmissions in the Network heart and carries on very high rates optical fibers sources generation and the optical chalcogenide microstructured fiber characterization. For this purpose, we study the linear and non-linear characteristics of microstructured chalcogenide fibers conceived and realized in various collaborations within the framework of the ANR FUTUR project. For that a great number of characterizations methods were developed giving a comparison between a standard single mode fiber and these microstructured chal…

NLO properties of polythiophenes galvanostatically electrodeposited on ITO glasses

2008

International audience; A study of nonlinear optical properties of ClO4-doped polythiophenes, galvanostatically electrodeposited on ITO glasses, was carried out using second and third harmonic generation measurements. The effect of the oxidation state of the polymeric films was studied by comparing the nonlinear optical response of oxidised and reduced polythiophenes. Reduced polymeric films show higher values of the second and third order susceptibilities and a lower absorbance in respect to the oxidised ones. The morphology of the polythiophene films was studied by scanning electron and atomic force microscopes.
