Mechanical And Thermophysical Properties Of Polymers And Chemical Structure: From Computer Simulations To Experimental Data

1988

Chemical structure is related to properties on the basis of results of computer modelling of mechanical behavior. An equation for the shift factor aT,c dependent on temperature T and concentration c is provided, connection to the chain relaxation capability noted, and potential application range of the approach discussed. Constituents of free volume are defined, and effects of individual constituents on mechanical properties.

Five-to-Six Membered Ring-rearrangements in the Reaction of 5-Perfluoroalkyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles with Hydrazine and Methylhydrazine

2006

The hydrazinolysis reaction of 5-perfluoroalkyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles with hydrazine or methylhydrazine as bidentate nucleophiles has been investigated. The reaction occurred through the addition of the bidentate nucleophile to the C(5)-N(4) double bond of the 1,2,4-oxadiazole followed by ring-opening and ring-closure (ANRORC) involving the second nucleophilic site of the reagent. This ring-closure step could involve either the original C(3) of the 1,2,4-oxadiazole (giving a five-to-five membered ring rearrangement) or an additional electrophilic center linked to it (exploiting a five-to-six membered ring rearrangement). An alternative initial nucleophilic attack may involve the additional elec…

On the aromaticity of uracil and its 5-halogeno derivatives as revealed by theoretically derived geometric and magnetic indexes

2020

AbstractThe problem of aromaticity in heterocyclic rings of uracil and its 5-halogenoderivatives (5XU) was analyzed theoretically by calculating modified harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity (HOMA) for Heterocycle Electron Delocalization (HOMHED), nucleus-independent chemical shift parameters (NICS) and the so-called scan experiments, using helium-3 atom as a magnetic probe. The impact of halogen electronegativity on C5 atom’s NBO charges was also investigated. Water, as a polar environment, has a negligible impact on 5XU aromaticity. The most stable diketo tautomer shows a very low aromaticity while the “rare” dihydroxy form (tautomer No 6) is aromatic and resembles benzene. This is in…

Influence of Several Effectors on the Structure-Activity Relationship of Spleen Phosphodiesterase

1993

The influence of Mg(II) and organic solvents on the structure-activity relationship of spleen phosphodiesterase II was analyzed using UV and fluorescence spectroscopies. An increase in the RNase activity found in the presence of Mg(II) was related to the enzyme-Mg(II) interaction detected by UV spectroscopy. In the fluorescence spectra of phosphodiesterase strong hypochromic and bathochromic effects were observed when RNA was present at a concentration (52 μg ml−1) of the same magnitude as the concentration that inhibits the activity (Ki = 40 μg ml−1). The strong quenching observed in the presence of RNA shows the importance of large dynamic and static quenching of the Trp residues of the e…

2,5-Dialkoxysubstituierte Oligo- und Poly(1,4-phenylenethenylen)e

1994

2,5-Dialkoxy Substituted Oligo- and Poly(1,4-phenyleneethenylene)s O-Alkylation and regioselective Rieche formylation of 2-methylhydroquinone (1) yields the 2,5-dialkoxy-4-methylbenzaldehydes 4a–j. The corresponding azomethines 5a–j enter in a strongly alkaline medium a selfcondensation reaction leading to the title compounds 6/7a–j. These conjugated oligomers and polymers possess highly regular structures with exclusively (E)-configurated double bonds. GPC, IR, 1H-, 13C-NMR and MS-FD measurements were used for their characterization. Somewhat different results were obtained for the similarly prepared Schiff base 5l which contains chlorine substituents in the side chains. Cleavage of hydrog…

A novel Cu(II) dimer containing oxime-hydrazone Schiff base ligands with an unusual mode of coordination: Study of magnetic, autoreduction and soluti…

2013

Abstract Synthesis of a new hydrazone based Schiff base ligand, 3-methylpyrazole-5-carbohydrazone of 2,3-butanedione monoxime (HL) is reported. The reaction of Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O with HL in any ratio in ethanol affords the dinuclear complex [CuL(EtOH)]2(ClO4)2·2H2O (1). An unusual coordination mode of the ligand was observed, in which the ligand forms stable six and five membered chelate rings around the metal centres without enolization of the carbonyl group of the hydrazone moiety. The same coordination behavior of the ligand was observed in its cobalt(III) complex. The reaction of CoCl2·6H2O in methanol with the ligand HL affords the mononuclear complex [CoL2]Cl (2). Both 1 and 2 were charac…

Chlorotitanium (IV) tetradentate Schiff-base complex immobilized on inorganic supports: Support type and other factors having effect on ethylene poly…

2009

A titanium complex with [O,N,N,O]-type tetradentate Schiff base (LTiCl2), never used before in polymerization of olefins, was immobilized on silica- and magnesium-type carriers, and it was used in ethylene polymerization. The conducted research revealed that the catalytic properties of the complex LTiCl2 supported on those carriers were different for both the catalytic systems studied, and simultaneously they turned out different from those of the unsupported system. The supported catalysts require the use of Me3Al, Et3Al, or MAO as the activator to be able to offer high catalytic activities, whereas Et2AlCl is needed for the nonsupported catalyst. This finding, together with considerable c…

Stereoselective Synthesis of γ-Fluorinated α-Amino Acids Using 2-Hydroxy-3-pinanone as an Auxiliary

2000

(+)-(S)-2-Amino-4-fluorobutanoic acid (5a) (> 96% ee), its α-methylated derivative (+)-(S)-5b (85% ee), and (−)-(S)-2-amino-4-fluoro-4-pentenoic acid (10) (81% ee) were synthesized by diastereoselective alkylation in the presence of LDA at low temperatures. Alkylation of (+)-(R,R,R)-2-hydroxy-3-pinanone based imines of glycine tert-butyl ester 1a or alanine isopropyl ester 1b with 1-bromo-2-fluoroethane (2) or 3-bromo-2-fluoropropene (7), respectively, followed by stepwise deprotection was used. The selectivity of the alkylation increased by lithium/magnesium exchange or for 1b also by addition of DMPU. Differences in the reactivity of enolate alkylations of enantiomerically pure or racemic…

Discrete bond model (DBM) of sodium silicate glasses derived from XPS, Raman and NMR measurements

1993

In sodium silicate glasses, the fraction of differently bound Si species Q[i] (i = 0−4), depending on the number i of bridging oxygens bound to the quarternary silicon, is a function of stoichiometry and the Na/Si ratio. Sodium silicate glasses were investigated by high resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. To explain the differences in chemical shifts and linewidths of the O 1s signal of the bridging and the non-bridging oxygen as a function of alkali concentration, and extended glass model was developed. This new model takes into account the influence of the alkali concentration on the Q[i] distribution and on the appearance and concentrations of differently bound bridging oxygens …
