Poleward range expansion without a southern contraction in the ground beetle Agonum viridicupreum (Coleoptera, Carabidae)
2011
We investigated the extent of poleward shifts in the distribution range of Agonum viridicupreum due to climate change in the western Palaearctic. Species' records were obtained from extensive literature sources as well as from collections, and consistent amateur entomologists' recordings. Within the general geographic range of the species, we analyzed in detail two parts of both, the northern and southern distribution range boundaries: (1 and 2) north-western Germany (leading or high-latitude edge), (3) Israel and (4) southern Italy (rear or low-latitude edge). Temporal changes in the occurrence data of the species indicated a northward shift of the leading edge of a minimum of 100 km withi…
The emergence of lean construction in the Norwegian AEC industry
2021
Lean construction has inspired the AEC industry globally over the last decades, and this manifests within a wide array of contexts. The purpose of this paper is to provide a narrative-based qualitative analysis of the emergence and impact of Lean construction on a national level, notably in the Norwegian AEC industry. The analysis is based on the concept of paradigm shift and on empirical knowledge in the form of narratives. The narratives of practitioners and researchers provide deep insights into how Lean Construction has inspired the Norwegian AEC industry and academia, respectively. The reflections indicate that the introduction of the Lean construction principles and tools in the Norwe…
© 2020 University of Valencia, Human Rights Institute. Genetic and Biochemical Analysis of PadR-padC Promoter Interactions during the Phenolic Acid Stress Response in Bacillus subtilis 168
2011
ABSTRACT Bacillus subtilis 168 is resistant to phenolic acids by expression of an inducible enzyme, the phenolic acid decarboxylase (PadC), that decarboxylates these acids into less toxic vinyl derivatives. In the phenolic acid stress response (PASR), the repressor of padC , PadR, is inactivated by these acids. Inactivation of PadR is followed by a strong expression of padC . To elucidate the functional interaction between PadR and the padC promoter, we performed (i) footprinting assays to identify the region protected by PadR, (ii) electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSAs) with a modified padC promoter protected region to determine the interacting sequences, and (iii) random mutagenesi…
1H and13C n.m.r. spectra of dichloro(trans-2-chlorovinyl)arsine
1977
Proton and carbon magnetic resonance spectra of Lewisite or dichloro(trans-2-chlorovinyl)arsine have been measured and the results are compared with the n.m.r. spectral parameters of other trans-1,2-substituted ethylenes. The coupling constants can be rationalized by substituent electronegativity. The chemical shifts show an unusually large paramagnetic effect from the AsCl2 group.
Mono-, bi- and polynuclear complexes of diphenylmethane with Cr, Co and Ru. Synthesis and investigation by 1H, 13C and 17O NMR
1995
Abstract Complexes of diphenylmethane (Ph 2 CH 2 ): Ph 2 CH 2 Cr(CO) 3 ( 1 ), Ph 2 CH 2 [Cr(CO) 3 ] 2 ( 2 ), Ph 2 CH 2 Co 4 (CO) 9 ( 3 ), Ph 2 CH 2 [Co 4 (CO) 9 ] 2 ( 4 ), Ph 2 CH 2 Cr(CO) 3 Co 4 (CO) 9 ( 5 ) and Ph 2 CH 2 Ru 6 C(CO) 14 ( 6 ) have been prepared and characterized by 1 H and 13 C-and 17 O-NMR spectroscopy. Strong shielding effects are caused by the metal valence electrons on the 1 H- and 13 C-NMR chemical shifts of aromatic protons and carbons in π-coordinated ring(s) diphenylmethane. Generally, the order of these shielding effects on the nuclei of the aromatic rings in 1 H-NMR was Co 4 (CO) 9 6 C(CO) 14 3 and in 13 C-NMR Co 4 (CO) 9 3 6 C(CO) 14 . In addition, aromatic solve…
Heterocyclic systems containing tin(IV)—XIII [1]. Possible ceasing or inversion of the structuraltrans influence during the course of a bimolecular n…
1997
Abstract In the series of the heterocycles X[(CH2)3]2SnR2 (16 newly synthesized compounds and two taken from the literature) and in the germanium analog BuiN[(CH2)3]2GeCl2, the donor group X (= NMe, NBz, NBui, NPri, O, S) intramolecularly attacks the Lewis acidic atoms Sn or Ge. Eight structure determinations (and, in addition, 2 taken from the literature) are compared. The nucleophilic attack at Sn is stronger for the ligands R2 =Cl2 than for the more electronegative R2 = (OSiPh3)2. Overall the familiartrans influence holds: simultaneous approach of X and weakening of the ligand R (trans). In three cases of subtly graded donor strength a slight inversion or ceasing is observed: shorter dis…
Heterocyclic systems containing antimony (III) -VIII . Hypervalency by intramolecular 1,5-chelation Sb · · · N in rings RSb [ (CH2) 3] 2NR′ (NR′ = NM…
1998
Abstract Eleven antimony compounds RSb [ (CH2) 3] 2 NR′ and eight germanium compounds R2Ge [ (CH2) 3] 2 NR′ (some combinations of R = Cl, I, NCS, OSiPh3, Ph, and NR′ = NMe, NBz, NBui) have been synthesized by diGrignard reactions and subsequent treatment with AgSCN, Ph3SiONa or PhLi. The compounds were compared to 14 Sn, 1 As, 5 Sb and 4 Bi analogues taken from the literature. Evidence is provided for 1,5-chelation Sb · · · N via crystal structure determinations (5+1 (lit) Sb compounds) , 13C- and 29Si-NMR chemical shifts, 12;Sb and 12;I Mossbauer data (11 and 3 Sb compounds, respectively) , cyclic voltammetry (9 Sb compounds) and semi-empirical MO calculations on the Extended Huckel level …
Fast Decentralized Linear Functions via Successive Graph Shift Operators
2019
Decentralized signal processing performs learning tasks on data distributed over a multi-node network which can be represented by a graph. Implementing linear transformations emerges as a key task in a number of applications of decentralized signal processing. Recently, some decentralized methods have been proposed to accomplish that task by leveraging the notion of graph shift operator, which captures the local structure of the graph. However, existing approaches have some drawbacks such as considering special instances of linear transformations, or reducing the family of transformations by assuming that a shift matrix is given such that a subset of its eigenvectors spans the subspace of i…
Term Ontogenesis in Educational Research Discourse: Focus on Term “Language”
2013
The paradigm shifts from the individual dimension to the social dimension of term ontogenesis in educational research discourse. The aim of the study is to analyze results of the ontogenesis of the term “language” in educational research discourse. The meaning of key concepts of “term” and “ontogenesis” is studied. Moreover, the study demonstrates how the key concepts are related to the idea of “concept development” and shows a potential model for development, indicating how the steps of the process are related following a logical chain: “term” definition → “ontogenesis” definition → educational research discourse → exploratory study. The present research was conducted to analyze the ontoge…
