Effects of training on bone metabolism in young athletes

Purpose. This study investigated the effects of two types of training on the bone formation marker of osteocalcin and the bone resorption marker of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase isoenzyme 5b (TRAP5b) in young track and field boys and girls. Methods. The 14-year-old group (10 boys, 10 girls) performed first time an intensive and supervised 8-week plyometric training. In the 17-year-old group (13 athletic boys, 6 control boys, 12 athletic girls, 6 control girls), the normal many-sided track and field training lasted 6 months. Results. The objective of this paper is to review the efficiency of public expenditure for education in Romania compared to other EU countries, and to the EU average. Thus we proceeded to a benchmarking analysis. In order to perform an analysis of public spending efficiency for education by benchmarking at the EU level, representative indicators must be chosen in order to quantify the volume of efforts and effects. Ikääntyneet aikuiset kuntoutustyöntekijöiden puheessa : työn kohteesta osallistuvaksi aikuiseksi?

Artikkelissa kuvataan kuntoutustyöntekijöiden puhetta ikääntyneistä aikuisista ryhmämuotoisessa kuntoutuksessa. Aineisto koostuu kuudesta kuntoutustyöntekijöiden moniammatillisesta fokusryhmäkeskustelusta, jotka toteutettiin kuudessa kuntoutuslaitoksessa. Aineisto analysoitiin diskurssianalyysiä hyödyntäen. Kuntoutustyöntekijöiden puheesta tunnistettiin viisi puhetapaa, joista arviointipuhe liittyi sosiaali- ja terveysalan (sote) kontekstiin, ohjaus- ja riskipuhe asiakkaiden oppimisen ja muutoksen kontekstiin sekä toiseus- ja oivalluspuhe työntekijöiden asiantuntijuuteen. Tässä pro gradu -työssä tutkimuskohteena olivat työssään ideoivien henkilöiden käsitykset ryhmän ideointiprosessista sen vuorovaikutuksen näkökulmasta. Näitä käsityksiä lähestyttiin fenomenografisin menetelmin. Tutkimuksen lähtökohtana oli halu ymmärtää ja selittää ideointia ryhmän vuorovaikutusprosessina. Tutkimustehtävänä oli selvittää muun muassa, mitä ideointi tutkimushenkilöille tarkoittaa, miten he sen määrittelevät ja millaisena he näkevät ideoinnissa tapahtuvan vuorovaikutuksen. Ihmisen parvovirus B19 (B19) on laajalle levinnyt, yleinen virus, joka aiheuttaa lapsissa parvorokkoa (viides tauti). Aikuisille B19 aiheuttaa erinäisiä sairauksia, muun muassa nivelkipuja ja – tulehdusta, anemiaa, sekä raskaana oleville sikiöpöhöä. Lisäksi B19 infektio saattaa johtaa autoimmuunisairauksiin, kuten punahukkaan (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE), nivelreumaan ja sydänlihastulehdukseen. Punishment and violence in the history of education have been covered in numerous scholarly works, but most of them have relied heavily on what might be considered normative sources such as regulations, legislation, other studies in the history of education, various instructions, manuals, and guidebooks. 'It's like a Sentence before the Sentence' - Exploring the Pains and Possibilities of Waiting for Imprisonment

This article explores the implications of the ‘imprisonment queue’ in Norway. Based on interview data (N = 200), we show that while interviewees waiting to serve their sentences enjoy certain benefits such as being able to prepare for or negotiate the terms of their imprisonment, they also suffer from uncertainty and powerlessness. The suspension of their lives while they wait hinders them in pursuing their ground projects, things that really matter to them. This peculiar phenomenon has not received attention from prison scholars generally, as well as scholars writing on Nordic Exceptionalism specifically.
