Unveiling two-dimensional discrete quantum walks dynamics via dispersion relations
2011
The discrete, or coined, quantum walk (QW) [1] is a process originally introduced as the quantum counterpart of the classical random walk (RW). In both cases there is a walker and a coin: at every time step the coin is tossed and the walker moves depending on the toss output. Unlike the RW, in the QW the walker and coin are quantum in nature what allows the coherent superpositions right/left and head/tail happen. This feature endows the QW with outstanding properties, such as making the standard deviation of the position of an initially localized walker grow linearly with time t, unlike the RW in which this growth goes as t1/2. This has strong consequences in algorithmics and is one of the …
The effects of the tricyclic antidepressants desipramine, doxepin and iprindole on the isolated perfused rabbit heart.
1974
1. The right sympathetic nerves of isolated perfused rabbit hearts were stimulated electrically (1 msec, supramaximal strength, 15 sec) with increasing frequencies (0.25–20 Hz) at 3 min intervals before and 20 min after starting perfusion with desipramine, doxepin or iprindole. Ventricular rate, right atrial and right ventricular tensions were recorded using the transverse method. 2. Sympathic nerve stimulation caused ventricular arrhythmias in the presence of desipramine (3.3 and 5.0 · 10−6 M) and doxepin (1.6−4.7×10−6 M) but failed to produce arrhythmias in hearts not exposed to drugs, or after iprindole, cocaine and atropine. 3. When desipramine or doxepin was added to Tyrode solution co…
Biowaiver monographs for immediate release solid oral dosage forms: quinidine sulfate.
2009
Literature data are reviewed relevant to the decision to allow a waiver of in vivo bioequivalence (BE) testing for the approval of new multisource and reformulated immediate release (IR) solid oral dosage forms containing quinidine sulfate. Quinidine sulfate's solubility and permeability, its therapeutic use and index, pharmacokinetics, excipient interactions and reported BE/bioavailability (BA) problems were taken into consideration. The available data are not fully conclusive, but do suggest that quinidine sulfate is highly soluble and moderately to highly permeable and would likely be assigned to BCS Class I (or at worst BCS III). In view of the inconclusiveness of the data and, more imp…
BALDONE OBSERVATORY IN THE CIRCLES OF TIME
2019
1957 – The first laboratory building, known as the White House, was built near Baldone on the Riekstu hill, in the territory of the next Observatory. 01.01.1958 – The Astronomy Sector was separated from the Institute of Physics and commenced independent activi- ty as the Laboratory of Astrophysics at the Latvian Acade- my of Sciences (LAS). In 1967, with the decision of the Presidium of the Latvian SSR LAS the Laboratory of As- trophysics was transformed into the Radioastrophysic Ob- servatory at LAS. Under the leadership of the first director, Janis Ikaunieks, an instrumental observation base develops – a 1.2m Schmidt telescope was installed in 1966 for opti- cal observations. The project …
Mechanically stable metal layers for ohmic and blocking contacts on CdZnTe detectors by electroless deposition
2015
CdZnTe detectors are commonly exploited for the detection of gamma rays. However, obtaining mechanical stable, low noise contacts on CdZnTe is still an issue. In particular, ohmic contacts would be preferable for high flux applications. In this work, we show that it is possible to obtain mechanical stable gold contacts by electroless deposition in methanol solution. Moreover, we show that electroless deposited nickel contacts are also mechanical stable and are good candidates for the realization of ohmic contacts on high resistivity CdZnTe crystals.

Authoritarian Neoliberalism : Its Ideological Antecedents and Policy Manifestations from Carl Schmitt’s Political Economy of Governance
2018
The regime of authoritarian neoliberalism is underway. In contemporary political economy of governance, this regime has been construed as a crisis response of the capitalist class to manage the conflict-ridden consequences of economic globalization; and, as an ideological project of a section of the ruling elites to justify the embedding of market-oriented development processes in a politically repressive government institution. To contribute to recent scholarship attempts at defining the character and tendencies of this emergent regime, the article traces one of its key ideological antecedents from Carl Schmitt’s earlier formulation for a “strong state, free economy”. It then presents a su…
Iän, sukupuolen ja harjoittelun yhteys reaktionopeuteen mies- ja naisveteraaniurheilijoilla

IÄN, SUKUPUOLEN JA HARJOITTELUN YHTEYS REAKTIONOPEUTEEN MIES - JA NAISVETERAANIURHEILIJOILLA Laura Vainio Pro gradu –tutkielma Gerontologia ja kansanterveys Jyväskylän yliopisto, liikuntatieteellinen tiedekunta, terveystieteiden laitos Kevät 2013 43 sivua, 1 liite Yksi ikääntymisen mukana tapahtuva toimintojen heikkeneminen ilmenee ärsykkeisiin reagoimisen ja reaktionopeuden hidastumisena. Mitä enemmän ikääntyvillä ihmisillä on nopeutta, kestävyyttä ja lihasvoimaa, sitä paremmin he suoriutuvat jokapäiväisistä arkiaskareista. Fyysinen aktiivisuus on tärkeä osa ikääntyvän ihmisen elämässä. Harjoittelun on todettu vaikuttavan reaktionopeuteen parantavasti.
Children’s conceptions of mental well-being and ideas for its promotion through digital environments
2021
The aim of this study is to further understanding of children’s conceptions of mental well-being and their ideas for its digital promotion. The study is based on the need to provide children an opportunity to actively participate and share their understanding of mental well-being promotion with others in light of their understanding of what online environments and their design can afford for this promotion. The study was implemented as three subsequent workshops in primary school classrooms comprising four teachers and 79 children aged 9-11 years old. In the first two workshops, children reflected on mental well-being, digital environments they utilise and their possible connections to ment…
