The study of the prehistory of Ibiza and Formentera, the two small islands that form the Pityussae sub-group within the Balearic archipelago, began a few years ago as a consequence of the discovery and excavation of the megalithic chamber tomb of a Ca Na Costa on Formentera. Before then, prehistorians were still in doubt as to whether these islands had been occupied before the Phoenician colonisation. Many sites have come to light in the last decade, allowing us to present for the first time a general survey of the prehistoric settlement of the islands. Abstract Passive daytime radiative cooling is gaining increasing relevance as recent studies report that newly developed materials with very high reflectivity and emissivity could be able to effectively reduce urban heat stress, when applied as roofing material (super cool roofs). The growing grey seal (Halichoerus grypus) population in the Baltic Sea has created conflicts with local fisheries, comparable to similar emerging problems worldwide. Adequate information on the foraging habits is a requirement for responsible management of the seal population. The cover picture displays the robustness achieved by the installation of fluorinated alcohols on 1,3‐benzodioxoles, protecting the obtained orthoesters against acids and bases, like the shield of a knight. The simple protocol allows access to interesting compounds, whose lipophilicity is tremendously increased by the incorporation of fluorinated groups. Neisseria gonorrhoeae infekcija mūsdienās ir globāla problēma. Latvijā tā ir otrā visbiežāk izplatītā bakteriālā seksuāli transmisīvā slimība. Mūsdienās satraucošā N. gonorrhoeae rezistence pret antibiotikām tiek atzīmēta visā pasaulē, tā ir padarījusi ārstēšanu nekomplicētai gonokoku infekcijai vēl sarežģītāku, ar mazāk ārstēšanas iespējām nekā agrāk. Visu laiku ārstiem pastāv jautājums, kā efektīvāk un ar maksimālu precizitāti noteikt antibakteriālo rezistenci. Tehnoloģijas nepārtraukti attīstās, tāpēc, teorētiski, pētījumi ar silīcija dioksīda mirkodaļiņām un to mijiedarbību ar mikroorganismiem varētu būt nozīmīgi antibakteriālās rezistences noteikšanai.
