2019

2012
Author's version of an article in the journal: Edda. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.idunn.no/ts/edda/2012/02/om_aa_baere_doedens_tyngde_-_fotografier_og_visuelle_fortelles Himmelarkivet (2008) by Gaute Heivoll is part of an international trend of fiction concerned with traumatic events from World War II reflecting on the question of how these events should be described and understood. One main narrative device in the work is the use of image-related elements, and the goal of this article is to interpret their significance and effect. On the one hand, the argument is that they work as documents confirming the authenticity of the narrative and, on the other, that these visua…
Verb Phrase Inversion in fictional and non-fictional written english
2014
In the last decades, full inversion constructions in which the subject follows the entire verb phrase in a declarative clause, as in"Beside him was a table full of well-known books", have been the subject of extensive research from a functional perspective. This paper is a further contribution to this line of research and offers a corpus-based analysis of a particular type of full inversion, namely verb phrase inversion (for example,"Standing grim and alone was the hulking eyesore of the territorial prison"), in written English texts. In recent work on inversion, there does not seem to be complete agreement as regards the distribution of verb phrase inversion in fiction and non-fiction. On …
Un-Pauline Paul? Philippians 2.6-11 in Context
2012
This article seeks to demonstrate (contra Geza Vermes and Ernst Lohmeyer) that Phil 2.6-11 is an integral part of the Letter to the Philippians as well as a natural part of the Corpus Paulinum, both linguistically and theologically. Essential vocabulary, phraseology, and themes in Phil 2.6-11 are compared with several other texts from Philippians, Romans, and Galatians.
IMAGINED REBELLION: WHAT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THE WINTER'S TALE
2014
International audience; Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale features a pattern of violent rebellion that only just fails to happen. Such moments of near-rebellion, best interpreted through the play's master trope of the moving statue, constitute an exploration of the causes of political rebellion and how best to avert it. Thanks to the close integration of its romance aesthetics and political realism, The Winter's Tale can be read as a "Mirror for Kings".

Synthesis and biological evaluation of cycloalkylidene carboxylic acids as novel effectors of Ras/Raf interaction.
2002
The protooncogenes Ras and Raf play important roles in signal transduction pathways regulated by mitogen-activated protein kinases. Mutations of Ras that arrest the protein in its active state are frequently implicated in tumor formation. We used Ras and Raf proteins in the yeast two-hybrid system to search for natural or synthesized substances capable of modulating Ras/Raf interaction by specifically binding to one of the interacting partners. We found that cycloalkylidene carboxylic acids enhanced Ras/Raf interaction by acting on the cysteine-rich domain of Raf. Several analogues of the active substance 2-cyclohexylidene propanoic acid were synthesized and the importance of the semicyclic…
