This poster paper aims to present an early-stage work of a group of researchers collaborating within the project EMPHRASE. The corpus-based cross-linguistic studies of a specialised phraseology across different linguistic registers, genres and domains of language use have not received sufficient attention yet (Buendía 2013, Aguado 2007, Ramisch 2015, Grabowski 2018), notably in terms of turning the results of largely descriptive studies into actionable knowledge. In 1979 one year after the publication of La vie mode d’emploi, George Perec wrote Cabinet d’amateur. Histoire d’un tableau, in which he tells the story of a painting belonging to the genre of the cabinet d’amateur, also known as kunst- und wunderkammer. It is a collection of different paintings, usually belonging to a rich man or a notable, portrayed (once again) in a single picture celebrating the magnificence of this more or less real collection. The paper analyses Latvian and German somatic idioms in the dictionaries by K. Ulmann and K. Ulmann / G. Braže. Up to now the researchers of Latvian phraseology have not focused to analyse these theme – especially in diachronic aspect. The paper presents the most fixed somatic idioms in the Latvian and German and their equivalence types. The author compares with the meanings of idioms from the first dictionary (1638) to modern electronic dictionary “Modern Latvian dictionary”. KEY WORDS: the dictionaries by K. Ulmann and K. Corpus analysis of phraseology in an A1 level textbook of German as a foreign language

This paper aims to analyse the extent to which the textbook for German as a foreign language DaF kompakt A1 (Sander et al., 2011) complies with the recommendations of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Council of Europe, 2001) (hereafter CEFR) in respect to lexical competence and sociolinguistic competence in receptive and productive activities, specifically with regard to phraseological units.
