HR scenario game : Learning human resource management in a virtual environment

This paper introduces a computer-based online scenario game that was developed to enhance the learning of human resource management (HRM) in an undergraduate course at a business school in Finland. What makes this game unique is that students played an important and active role in developing the game in collaboration with lecturers. Our findings show that the game enhances learning, interaction, and collaboration among students. We discuss how computer-based games and their development in collaboration with students can be used as a means for learning and improving working-life skills in higher education.

Information system development (ISD) projects are an ever-growing field of project management (PM) with their unique features, and project failures in ISD are relatively common. In the broader context of PM, uncertainty is a studied, yet mercurial phenomenon. By contrast, uncertainty in ISD projects has received relatively little attention from scholars, and PM literature has not systematically focused on uncertainty in ISD from a viewpoint other than that of project managers. The mediatization of emotions emerges as an affordance of social media, the study of which involves paying attention to digital practices and the formation of the sense of public affection, of connected audiences expressing their participation through expressions of sentiment. This happens both for the great events and for the daily demonstrations of support or of its negation. Here we choose to analyze the tweets in which the fans express their opinions on the participation in the reality shows of their “icons”: Vladimir Luxuria and Cristiano Malgioglio. To reconstruct the hashtag semantics we use: the NodeXL software for network analysis and Iramuteq for the extraction of lexical worlds.

In an experimental nuclear physics off-line systems are often used in situations where acceleration energies are relatively small. Main benefits are low price and meager radiated laboratory enviroments. In this master’s thesis I discuss mostly about automation which was used in our off-line system. The system was built at the Ion Guide Separator On-Line facility (IGISOL) in Jyväskylä University. The automation set up was made with the Phoenix Contacts inline terminals, which were programmed by using the Labview program.
