Car sequencing versus mixed-model sequencing: A computational study

Abstract The paper deals with the two most important mathematical models for sequencing products on a mixed-model assembly line in order to minimize work overload the mixed-model sequencing (MMS) model and the car sequencing (CS) model. Although both models follow the same underlying objective, only MMS directly addresses the work overload in its objective function. CS instead applies a surrogate objective using so-called sequencing rules which restrict labor-intensive options accompanied with the products in the sequence. [EN] Purpose: A new technique for the assessment of the optical quality of multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOLs) under monochromatic and polychromatic illumination is presented. Methods: The system provides, in a totally automated procedure, the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the lens under test for different axial positions of the object. The artificial eye admits different artificial corneas, to optimise the axial resolution in the sampling of the MTF of the MIOL under test, and different pupils, to test the dependence of the optical performance of the MIOL on the eye pupil diameter. Novel 3D bio-macromolecular bilinear descriptors for protein science: Predicting protein structural classes

In the present study, we introduce novel 3D protein descriptors based on the bilinear algebraic form in the ℝn space on the coulombic matrix. For the calculation of these descriptors, macromolecular vectors belonging to ℝn space, whose components represent certain amino acid side-chain properties, were used as weighting schemes. Generalization approaches for the calculation of inter-amino acidic residue spatial distances based on Minkowski metrics are proposed. Purpose: This study evaluated the influence of a soft-start light-curing exposure on polymerization shrinkage stress and marginal integrity of adhesive restorations. Hierarchical multi-criteria analysis for the selection of a triathlon

Sports activities have an increasingly large impact in different fields: economy, tourism, environment, applied technology, social, culture, etc. This study analyses the most important criteria that triathletes take into account when choosing a triathlon event in Spain. The methodology used was Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which quantifies the weighting of each criterion and sub-criterion in a survey. The survey was drawn up using 14 triathlete experts and was completed by 95 triathlon participants.
