Galactic rotation curves in hybrid metric-Palatini gravity

Generally, the dynamics of test particles around galaxies, as well as the corresponding mass deficit, is explained by postulating the existence of a hypothetical dark matter. In fact, the behavior of the rotation curves shows the existence of a constant velocity region, near the baryonic matter distribution, followed by a quick decay at large distances. Identifying lifetime as one of the key parameters responsible for the low brightness of lanthanide-based OLEDs.

OLEDs based on lanthanide complexes have decisive optical advantages but are hampered by low brightness. Despite the efforts to optimize several parameters such as quantum yield and charge carrier mobility, there seems to be another key parameter that hinders their performances. Experimental data are therefore collected for mixed-ligand europium complexes with bathophenanthroline and different classes of anionic ligands and screened to identify the key parameter responsible for this situation, which turns out to be the long lifetime of their excited states. Incidence Angle Diversity on L-Band Microwave Radiometry and Its Impact on Consistent Soil Moisture Retrievals

Incidence angle diversity of space-borne L-band radiometers needs to be taken into account for a consistent estimation of surface soil moisture (SM). In this study, the Land Parameter Retrieval Model (LPRM) is applied to SMOS brightness temperatures to calibrate the effective scattering albedo (w) and the soil roughness (h 1 ) parameter against ERA5-land SM. The analysis is carried out for SMOS data at three different incidence angles ( 32.5±5∘, 42.5±5∘ and 52.5±5∘ ) focusing in 2016 on the three main land cover types of the Iberian Peninsula according to the Climate Change Initiative (agricultural, forest and grassland). Abstract Surface soil moisture and vegetation optical depth (VOD), as an indicator of vegetation wet biomass, from passive microwave remote sensing have been increasingly applied in global ecology and climate research. Both soil moisture and VOD are retrieved from satellite brightness temperature measurements assuming a zeroth order radiative transfer model, commonly known as the tau-omega model. Luminance and contrast in visual perception of time to collision.

AbstractMany animals avoid dark, approaching objects seen against a lighter background but show no or weaker reactions to stimuli with inverted contrast. We investigated whether human observers would respond differently to such stimuli in terms of estimated time-to-arrival. We varied luminances of an approaching, light or dark disk and a plain, grey background, and for several conditions, continuously adjusted calibrations so as to keep contrast and/or overall lightness constant. Clinical efficacy of a bleaching enzyme-based toothpaste. A double-blind controlled clinical trial.

Abstract Objectives To assess the efficacy of a bleaching enzyme-based toothpaste. Material and methods A randomized clinical trial was carried out, comprising 48 participants with teeth exhibiting color A3 or higher according to the Vita Classical guide. One-half of the sample received the bleaching enzyme-based toothpaste (White Kin ® ), while the other received placebo toothpaste. Effects of high power ultrasound treatments on the phenolic, chromatic and aroma composition of young and aged red wine

Abstract In this study, the effects of both ultrasonic bath and probe treatments on the phenolic, chromatic and aroma composition of young red wine Cabernet Sauvignon were studied and modeled by artificial neural networks (ANNs). Moreover, the effect of high power ultrasound (HPU) along with antioxidants addition (sulfur dioxide and glutathione) was investigated during 6 months of aging in bottles.
