Asymmetric synthesis of fluorinated amino macrolactones through ring-closing metathesis

2007

The synthesis of new chiral fluorinated amino and azamacrolactones of types 1 and 2 is described. A ring-closing metathesis (RCM) reaction constitutes the key step in this methodology, which uses fluorinated amino alcohols 7 as starting materials. The influence of the CF2 group, which is located in the alpha-position relative to the carbon bearing the amino group, on the efficiency of the RCM reaction is noteworthy. This method allows for the preparation of the desired fluorinated macrolactones in excellent yields.

Oxygen-containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (OPAHs) in urban soils of Bratislava, Slovakia: patterns, relation to PAHs and vertical distributi…

2011

Abstract We determined concentrations, sources, and vertical distribution of OPAHs and PAHs in soils of Bratislava. The ∑14 OPAHs concentrations in surface soil horizons ranged 88–2692 ng g−1 and those of ∑34 PAHs 842–244,870 ng g−1. The concentrations of the ∑9 carbonyl-OPAHs (r = 0.92, p = 0.0001) and the ∑5 hydroxyl-OPAHs (r = 0.73, p = 0.01) correlated significantly with ∑34 PAHs concentrations indicating the close association of OPAHs with parent-PAHs. OPAHs were quantitatively dominated by 9-fluorenone, 9,10-anthraquinone, 1-indanone and benzo[a]anthracene-7,12-dione. At several sites, individual carbonyl-OPAHs had higher concentrations than parent PAHs. The concentration ratios of se…

Chemical speciation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in sediments: partitioning and extraction of humic substances.

2010

The primary objective of this study was to examine the chemical speciation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) found in sediments endowed with different characteristics. To achieve this purpose and because the nature of the sediments influences the distribution of PAHs, we have analyzed four different types of sediments. To study the role of organic matter in the sequestration of PAHs, we fractionated humic substances into humic acids and humin–mineral fractions. After their separation and purification, the humic components were examined for their sorptive reactivity by extracting them with organic solvents; these extracts were subsequently subjected to GC/MS analysis. Our results sh…

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Sediments of Marine Coastal Lagoons in Messina, Italy: Extraction and GC/MS Analysis, Distribution and Sources

2004

The content of 21 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has been determined in 16 samples of sediments collected from Ganzirri and Faro marine coastal lagoons in Messina (Italy). Analysis was performed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) in selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode. The total concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) ranged from 74 to 5755 ...g/Kg of dry matrix. The resulting distributions and molecular ratios of specific compounds have been discussed in terms of sampling location and origin of organic matter. The results obtained show that levels of contamination are not homogeneous throughout the stations, while the relative distributions of PAH are…

Diastereodivergent Synthesis of Fluorinated Cyclic β(3)-Amino Acid Derivatives.

2015

The ability of 2-p-tolylbenzyl carbanions to behave as a source of chiral benzylic nucleophiles has been shown in its reaction with fluorinated imines. The process takes place with high levels of stereocontrol, rendering the corresponding amines as single diastereoisomers. Subsequent cross-metathesis followed by intramolecular aza-Michael reaction makes the synthesis of fluorinated homoproline derivatives bearing three stereogenic centers possible. Furthermore, the selectivity of the cyclization process can easily be tuned up in a diastereodivergent manner simply by changing the reaction conditions.

Selective recognition of aromatic hydrocarbons by endo-functionalized molecular tubes via C/N-H⋅⋅⋅π interactions

2018

Abstract Molecular recognition of aromatic hydrocarbons by four endo -functionalized molecular tubes has been studied by 1 H NMR spectroscopy, computational methods, and single crystal X-ray crystallography. The binding selectivity is rationalized by invoking shape complementarity and dipole alignment. The non-covalent interactions are proved to predominantly be C/N-H⋅⋅⋅ π interactions.

Occurrence and removal of organic pollutants in sewages and landfill leachates

2002

Sewages of different composition and the effluents of four sewage treatment plants (STPs), plus sewage sludges were analysed for semivolatile organic priority pollutants. Furthermore, 11 landfill leachates were analysed to evaluate their contribution to sewage pollutants when co-treated. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) was the pollutant occurring at highest concentrations (up to 122 microg/l) and it was present in all sewages and leachates; concentrations of other phthalates were usually below 17 microg/l. Some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) (<1 microg/l) and 2,6-dinitrotoluene (< or =5.9 microg/l) were also present in many of the sewages and leachates. Phthalates were present in…

Mechanisms involved in lipid accumulation and apoptosis induced by 1-nitropyrene in Hepa1c1c7 cells

2011

International audience; 1-Nitropyrene (1-NP) is a nitro-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (nitro-PAH) present in diesel exhaust and bound to particular matter in urban air. We show that 1-NP and the referent PAH benzo(a)pyrene (BP) induce apoptosis and a lipid accumulation dependent on cytochrome P450 1A1-metabolites in mouse hepatoma cells, whereas 1-amino-pyrene had no effect. The caspase inhibitor, N-benzyloxycarbonyl-Val-Ala-Asp(O-Me) fluoromethyl ketone (Z-VAD-fmk), inhibits 1-NP-induced apoptosis, but failed to alter 1-NP-triggered lipid accumulation determined by Nile red staining. We further show that cholesterol and fatty acid contents are modified after nitro-PAH exposure and that 1…

Isolation, characterization and determination of biotechnological potential of oil-degrading bacteria from Algerian centre coast

2019

Aims The Algerian coastline is exposed to several types of pollution, including hydrocarbons. The aim of this work was to isolate oil-degrading bacteria and to explore the intrinsic bioremediation potential of part of its contaminated harbour. Methods and results A collection of 119 strains, capable to grow on mineral medium supplemented with hydrocarbons, were obtained from polluted sediment and seawater collected from Sidi Fredj harbour (Algiers). Twenty-three strains were selected for further studies. Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene showed that most isolates belong to genera of hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria (Alcanivorax), generalist hydrocarbons degraders (Marinobacter, Pseudomonas, Gordo…
