Reconstruction of hyperspectral cutaneous data from an artificial neural network-based multispectral imaging system.

2011

International audience; The development of an integrated MultiSpectral Imaging (MSI) system yielding hyperspectral cubes by means of artificial neural networks is described. The MSI system is based on a CCD camera, a rotating wheel bearing a set of seven interference filters, a light source and a computer. The resulting device has been elaborated for in vivo imaging of skin lesions. It provides multispectral images and is coupled with a software reconstructing hyperspectral cubes from multispectral images. Reconstruction is performed by a neural network-based algorithm using heteroassociative memories. The resulting hyperspectral cube provides skin optical reflectance spectral data combined…

A 3D multispectral integrated acquisition system : acquisition, data coding and compression

2010

We have developed an integrated system permitting the simultaneous acquisition of the 3D shape and the spectral spectral reflectance of scanned object surfaces. We call this system a 3D multispectral scanner because it combines within a stereopair, a multispectral video camera and a structured light projector. We see several application possibilities for a such acquisition system but we want to highlight applications in the field of digital archiving and broadcasting for heritage objects. In the manuscript we first introduce the acquisition system and its necessary calibrations and treatments needed for his use. Then, once the acquisition system is functional, data that are generated are ri…

Hyperspectral near-field imaging : development and applications to nanophotonics devices

2013

The scanning near-field optical microscopy (SNOM) is used to analyze optical phenomena at the sub-wavelength scale such as light localization and propagation in photonic crystals or plasmonic devices. In any case, SNOM experiments rely on the positioning of a local probe in the optical near field of a given structure and on the detection of the surrounding evanescent waves. Depending on the nature of the probe or on the optical detection method, the detected physical properties are the spatial distributions of the amplitude and phase or the intensity of the electric and magnetic components of the probed field. We present here the implementation of an innovative hyperspectral near-field imag…

Spectral calibration of hyperspectral imagery using atmospheric absorption features

2006

One of the initial steps in the preprocessing of remote sensing data is the atmospheric correction of the at-sensor radiance images, i.e., radiances recorded at the sensor aperture. Apart from the accuracy in the estimation of the concentrations of the main atmospheric species, the retrieved surface reflectance is also influenced by the spectral calibration of the sensor, especially in those wavelengths mostly affected by gaseous absorptions. In particular, errors in the surface reflectance appear when a systematic shift in the nominal channel positions occurs. A method to assess the spectral calibration of hyperspectral imaging spectrometers from the acquired imagery is presented in this p…

A sun-induced vegetation fluorescence retrieval method from top of atmosphere radiance for the FLEX/Sentinel-3 TanDEM mission

2015

A new fluorescence retrieval method is proposed to support ESA's 8th Earth Explorer FLuorescence EXplorer/Sentinel-3 (FLEX-S3) candidate tandem mission. FLEX is the first mission specially dedicated to measure the Sun-Induced vegetation chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) strongly related with the vegetation photosynthetic activity. Most hyperspectral fluorescence retrieval algorithms available in the literature are very sensitive to true reflectance modelization and/or they assume the atmospheric status as known. The proposed algorithm delivers the retrieval of full fluorescence spectrum at canopy level by using only Top Of Atmosphere (TOA) radiances from S3 and FLEX as input. Once the spatial …

Affine Illumination Compensation on Hyperspectral/Multiangular Remote Sensing Images

2011

The huge amount of information some of the new optical satellites developed nowadays will create demands to quickly and reliably compensate for changes in the atmospheric transmittance and varying solar illumination conditions. In this paper three different forms of affine transformation models (general, particular and diagonal) are considered as candidates for rapid compensation of illumination variations. They are tested on a group of three pairs of CHRISPROBA radiance images obtained in a test field in Barrax (Spain), and where there is a difference in the atmospheric as well as in the geometrical acquisition conditions. Results indicate that the proposed methodology is satisfactory for …

Decay Detection in Citrus Fruits Using Hyperspectral Computer Vision

2012

The citrus industry is nowadays an important part of the Spanish agricultural sector. One of the main problems present in the citrus industry is decay caused by Penicillium digitatum and Penicillium italicum fungi. Early detection of decay produced by fungi in citrus is especially important for the citrus industry of distribution. This chapter presents a hyperspectral computer vision system and a set of machine learning techniques in order to detect decay caused by Penicillium digitatum and Penicillium italicum fungi that produce more economic losses to the sector. More specifically, the authors employ a hyperspectral system and artificial neural networks. Nowadays, inspection and removal o…

GHOST: GRADIENT HISTOGRAM OF SPECTRAL TEXTURE

2021

International audience; A gradient-based texture feature for hyperspectral image is formulated with straightforward application to grayscale and color images. Processed in full band, GHOST is expressed as a four-dimensional probability density distribution encompassing joint metrological assessment of spectral and spatial properties. Its performance is close to Opponent Band Local Binary Pattern (OBLBP) in HyTexiLa texture classification (91 %-99 % accuracy) with feature size 0.2 % of OBLBP's.

Hyperspectral evaluation of skin blood oxygen saturation at baseline and during arterial occlusion

2018

Skin capillary blood oxygen saturation is a clinically important diagnostic parameter, which provides valuable information for timely treatment of pathological conditions e.g. sepsis, hypoxemia or decompression illness. Hyperspectral imaging is non-invasive optical techniques with high clinical potential, however its use for skin blood oxygen saturation detection is still challenging, therefore in the present study, a method for in-vivo manipulation of skin oxygen saturation was developed, and reliability of the method evaluated by means of hyperspectral imaging in detection of oxygen saturation. In order to produce alterations of skin capillary blood parameters and oxygen saturation, the p…
