Characterization of palm sap harvested in Songkhla province, Southern Thailand

International audience; The purpose of this study was to characterise the quality of palm sap after harvested in Songkhla province, southern Thailand. Ten palm sap samples were analyzed. The results showed differed in physical and chemical quality among samples (P<0.05). The results showed range of L*, a* and b* values between 61.49 to 87.53, 1.46 to 3.52 and 12.41 to 19.31, respectively. The turbidity was ranged from 39.56% to 79.95%. The pH value was varied from 4.19 to 5.23, while total acidity was ranged from 0.27% to 0.93%. The total soluble solids ranged from 10.80 to 17.40OBrix. Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy has been debated and discussed widely. Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien have had strong opinions about the films, and I believe that their online conversations about the movies call for a closer look. I am particularly interested in Tolkien fans’ reactions to the films; the reasons for these reactions; and the actions they provoked. Some fans loved the possibility of revisiting Middle-earth. They drew a clear distinction between the book and the movies, showing understanding towards the changes and additions required by the adaptation process. Legitimizing sex and empowerment : an interpretation of narratives on sex trade in Thailand

This research investigates how non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working against human trafficking in Thailand and male tourists travelling to Thailand for sex legitimize their actions and perspectives on their websites. The research material is constituted by two websites for each of both categories. Plot analysis was used as a main method, based on Northrop Frye’s mythoi and Kenneth Burke’s dramatistic hexad. Subsequently, plots were deconstructed by pointing out omissions, inconsistencies, and dualities. From the analysis, it derived that all parties produce a form of knowledge that legitimizes their power, which in turn is necessary in order to produce knowledge. They sample the pop…
