Water chemistry, zooplankton and benthos in small lakes within the distribution area of the rare European pool frog Pelophylax lessonae (Camerano) in…
2020
Summary In June 2018, water chemistry, benthos and zooplankton were investigated in 7 small lakes/ ponds within the key area of the European pool frog Pelophylax lessonae (Camerano) in Norway. The geographic distribution of the Norwegian population is minor, limited to a very few small lakes in the county of Agder in southernmost Norway. Since the species is thermophilic, reproduction success only occurs in warm summers. Accordingly, the pool frog is one of the most rare vertebrates in Norwegian fauna, classified as critically endangered in the Norwegian red list. A breeding program is today established in order to rescue this species. The article deals with potential biotope challenges most…
2013
The study reports on a chariot tomb excavated in 1985 at Les Craises in Molinons (Yonne). Set in an adventitious position in the midst of a monument with three quadrangular enclosures, the grave was of an adult of undetermined sex. Despite later pillaging, the goods found in this aristocratic tomb permit a dating to the second quarter of the 5th century BC, and an unusual cultural attribution, on the frontier in the Parisian Basin between the Jura culture to the south and the Marne-Moselle culture to the north.
Projet Collectif de Recherche triennal 2020-2022, "La Confluence Saône / Doubs à l'âge du Fer » (VIe s. av. J.-C. au Ier s. de notre ère). Rapport in…
2021

2016
Dokumenttianaly…
Unraveling environmental histories from skeletal diaries — Advances in sclerochronology
2013
High-resolution proxy archives from aquatic settings are essential to better understand processes and mechanisms of global change. During the last decade, it has become increasingly evident that calcified tissues of bivalve mollusks and cold-water corals, in particular, can significantly increase our knowledge of seasonal to multi-decadal paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental variability in the extratropical oceans and coastal marine settings. Daily, tidal, fortnightly and annual growth patterns of periodically formed skeletal hard parts provide a means to place the proxy record in a precise temporal context. Their extreme longevity coupled with the running similarity between growth increment…
In vivo fascicle behavior of the flexor hallucis longus muscle at different walking speeds
2017
Ankle plantar flexor muscles support and propel the body in the stance phase of locomotion. Besides the triceps surae, flexor hallucis longus muscle (FHL) may also contribute to this role, but very few in vivo studies have examined FHL function during walking. Here, we investigated FHL fascicle behavior at different walking speeds. Ten healthy males walked overground at three different speeds while FHL fascicle length changes were recorded with ultrasound and muscle activity was recorded with surface electromyography (EMG). Fascicle length at heel strike at toe off and at peak EMG activity did not change with speed. Range of FHL fascicle length change (3.5-4.5 and 1.9-2.9 mm on average in s…
