PURPOSE Scheimpflug imaging allows quantitative analysis of the width of the anterior chamber angle. We report the population-based distribution of the anterior chamber angle width using this noncontact imaging technique and investigate associated factors. METHODS A population-based cross-sectional study was carried out in Germany. A comprehensive ophthalmologic examination including refraction, biometry, and Scheimpflug imaging was performed. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is a rare congenital defect and the diagnosis is usually made after it ruptures. Very few cases of non-complicated sinus of Valsalva aneurysm have been published. The anomaly most often involves the right coronary sinus and less frequently the non-coronary sinus. A case with left sinus of Valsalva has not been reported. Since the aortic valve occupies a central position in the base of the heart, rupture of a sinus of Valsalva aneurysm can occur in any of the four heart chambers. The metabolism of 0.19 and 2.0 mM-[3-14C]coumarin to polar products and covalently bound metabolites has been studied with hepatic microsomes from the rat, Syrian hamster, Mongolian gerbil and humans. [3-14C]Coumarin was metabolized by liver microsomes from all species to a number of polar products and to metabolite(s) that became covalently bound to microsomal proteins. The polar products included 3-, 5- and 7-hydroxycoumarins, o-hydroxyphenylacetaldehyde and o-hydroxyphenylacetic acid. Coumarin 7-hydroxylation was observed in all species except the rat. Abstract Extra-oesophageal autonomic dysfunction in idiopathic achalasia is not well documented, due to contradictory results reported. We aimed to study the cardiovascular and pancreatic autonomic function in patients with idiopathic achalasia. The aim was to study the interchangeability of various devices that measure anterior chamber depth (ACD) and white-to-white (WTW) distance.Eighty right eyes of eighty patients aged 20 to 40 years were included. Their spherical equivalent ranged from -4.25 to +1.00 dioptres. Each eye's ACD and the WTW distance were measured using the following devices: a Castroviejo surgical calliper, CA-200F Corneal Analyser, Orbscan II, Pentacam HR and IOLMaster 500.The Pentacam HR measured significantly greater ACD (p0.01) than the other two devices, whereas IOLMaster 500 and Orbscan II yielded comparable (p0.01) distances. Five-repeated measurements were taken with ANTERION high-resolution swept-source optical coherence tomographer (SS-OCT) to measure: corneal thickness (central and at 2, 4 and 6-mm diameters), aqueous depth (AD), lens thickness (LT), anterior chamber volume (ACV), axial length (AL), and pupil (diameter and position). The clinical course of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) is usually aggressive and the prognosis unfavorable. Therefore, there is a need for improvement of treatment options. Patients with newly diagnosed (n = 27) or refractory/relapsed (n = 11) PTCL received a combination of alemtuzumab, fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and doxorubicin. The overall response rate (ORR) was 61%, with a complete response rate of 39%. In newly diagnosed patients the ORR was 63%, the median overall survival 25.9 months, and progression-free survival 11.8 months. In relapsed/refractory patients the median OS was 6.1 months. The chemoimmunotherapy FCR (fludarabine and cyclophosphamide with rituximab) is the standard first-line treatment for physically fit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients. To assess the risks and benefits, we investigated health-related quality of life (HRQOL). 817 untreated CLL patients received either FC or FCR within the GCLLSG CLL8 trial. The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of life Questionnaire C30 was sent to all patients at baseline, after 3, 6, and 12 months and then yearly as follow-up. Abstract Background EMD 521873 (Selectikine), an immunocytokine comprising a DNA-targeting antibody, aimed at tumour necrosis, fused with a genetically modified interleukin-2 (IL-2) moiety, was investigated in this first-in-human phase I study. Methods Patients had metastatic or locally advanced solid tumours failing previous standard therapy. Selectikine was administered as a 1-hour intravenous infusion on 3 consecutive days, every 3weeks.
