Quantitative Comparison of Free and Bound Volatiles of Two Commercial Tomato Cultivars (Solanum lycopersicumL.) during Ripening
2009
The changes in the profile of both free and glycosidically bound volatiles were studied in Moneymaker and Raf tomato cultivars during fruit ripening. The concentrations of 20 of 24 and of 27 of 30 compounds detected in the free volatile fraction (FVF) and glycosidically bound fraction (GBF), respectively, differed significantly between cultivars during ripening. Most free and bound volatiles increased during ripening in both cultivars. The contribution of each free volatile compound to the overall aroma was estimated by calculating its log U value, which indicated that only 11 compounds seem to exert a strong influence. Nine volatiles were detected exclusively in the GBF, among them geranio…
Flavonoid Constituents of Rhamnus lycioides L.
1986
Abstract From the aerial part of Rhamnus lycioides, which is used in folk medicine in eastern Spain as an antihypertensive drug, seven free flavonoid aglycones were isolated. They were structurally elucidated as rhamnazin. rhamnocitrin, isorhamnetin, kaempferol, quercetin. quercetin-3-methylether and taxifolin. by applying the principal spectroscopic methods and TLC with authentic markers.
Oxygenated germacranes from Santolina chamaecyparissus
1993
The polar fraction of an extract of Santolina chamaecyparissus ssp. squarrosa yielded six new germacrane derivatives and a novel seco-germacrane lactone. The structures have been derived from spectral data, X-ray diffraction and chemical correlations.
Fatty acid composition of the seed lipids ofChamaerops humilisL. natural populations and its relation with the environment
2014
Seed lipids composition is a tool to discriminate among plant taxa and is related to phylogeny and biogeographic distribution. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the fatty acid (FA) composition of the seed lipids from nine natural Chamaerops humilis L. population and its relation with the climatic traits of the collection sites. The average seed lipids content was 54.8 g kg21 and the most represented FAs were oleic (478 g kg21 oil) and linoleic (230 g kg21 oil), with significant differences among the accessions. Most of the lipid traits significantly correlated with climatic traits. In particular, oleic acid negatively correlated with year potential evapotranspiration. These relations…
Microcirculatory Dysfunction Induced by Cigarette Smoking
2000
This review deals with the deleterious effects of cigarette smoking on the microcirculation, both in terms of morphological (i.e., vessel wall injury, capillary loss) and functional aspects. The latter concerns predominantly changes in tissue perfusion and its regulatory mechanisms (i.e., reactive hyperemia, sequestration of blood cells in the microcirculation). The mechanisms of action of cigarette smoking on the microcirculation include compromised endothelial-dependent vasorelaxation, platelet aggregation, endothelial cell dysfunction, and the activation of circulating leukocytes. Through these mechanisms, cigarette smoking elicits the aggregation and adhesion of leukocytes and/or platel…
NMR-Spektroskopie an Heterocyclen, 2. Mitt. Kernalkylierte und isomere Nicethamidderivate
1976
Ringalkylated and Isomeric Nicethamide Derivatives The 13C-n.m.r. shifts were determined for ringalkylated and isomeric nicethamide derivatives and the energy barrier of the hindered rotation of the amide group was evaluated by means of 1H-n.m.r.
Amphetamine and Methamphetamine Determinations in Biological Samples by High Performance Liquid Chromatography. A Review
1994
Abstract This critical review shows the different high performance liquid chromatography methods proposed for amphetamine and methamphetamine determinations. It is directed mainly towards sample clean up and derivatizations steps, because of their significance in such determinations.
Tricks and Tracks in the Identification and Quantification of Endocannabinoids
2013
Abstract The endocannabinoid system serves pivotal roles in a diverse range of physiological and pathophysiological states, including behavior, pain, schizophrenia, obesity, Alzheimer disease, multiple sclerosis and cardiovascular disease. A number of endocannabinoids (eCBs) and their receptors have been characterised and identified in a plethora of biological matrices. The eCBs include N-arachidonoyl ethanolamine (anandamide), 2-arachidonoyl glycerol, 2-arachidonoyl glyceryl ether (noladin ether), O-arachidonoyl ethanolamine (virodhamine) and N-arachidonoyl dopamine. Advanced targeted mass spectrometry methods, particularly the selected reaction monitoring, has facilitated sensitive quanti…
NMR-Spektroskopie an Heterocyclen, 3. Mitt.: Homologe, vinyloge und kernalkylierte Nicethamidanaloge
1976
Homologous, Vinylogous, and Ring Alkylated Nicethamide Analogs The 13C-NMR shifts were determined for homologous, vinylogous and ring alkylated nicethamide analogs and the energy barrier of the hindered rotation of the amide group was evaluated by means of coalescence measurements with 1H-NMR.
Two isorhamnetin triglycosides from Anthyllis sericea
1989
Abstract A fraction of a methanolic extract of aerial parts of Anthyllis sericea yielded vicenin 2 and the two new compounds isorhamnetin 3- O -(2- O -β-glucopyranosyl-6- O -α-rhamnopyranosyl)-β-galactopyranoside and isorhamnetin 3- O -(2- O -β-glucopyranosyl)-βl-galactopyranoside-7- O -β-glucopyranoside.
