New Areas of Application of Comparable Corpora
2019
This chapter describes several approaches of using comparable corpora beyond the area of MT for under-resourced languages, which is the primary focus of the ACCURAT project. Section 7.1, which is based on Rapp and Zock (Automatic dictionary expansion using non-parallel corpora. In: A. Fink, B. Lausen, W. Seidel, & A. Ultsch (Eds.) Advances in Data Analysis, Data Handling and Business Intelligence. Proceedings of the 32nd Annual Meeting of the GfKl, 2008. Springer, Heidelberg, 2010), addresses the task of creating resources for bilingual dictionaries using a seed lexicon; Sect. 7.2 (based on Rapp et al., Identifying word translations from comparable documents without a seed lexicon. Effect of traditional, microwave and industrial cooking on inositol phosphate content in beans, chickpeas and lentils
2003
An high-performance liquid chromatography method for determining inositol phosphate fractions was adapted to legumes. The validity of the method was assessed by estimating the following analytical parameters: linearity (linear response between 125 and 5000 microg inositol hexaphosphate (IP(6))/ml); instrumental precision and method precision (relative standard deviation, %) were 1.9% (IP(6)) for instrumental, and 2.5% (IP(6)) and 8.2% (IP(5)) for method precision. An accuracy was estimated by percentage recovery (72 +/- 3%). The application of this method to raw, conventional, microwave-cooked and ready-to-eat beans, chickpeas and lentils gave IP(6) contents ranging from 0.63 g/100 g dry ma…
Severe Perinatal Hypoxic-Ischemic Brain Injury Induces Long-Term Sensorimotor Deficits, Anxiety-Like Behaviors and Cognitive Impairment in a Sex-, Ag…
2019
Perinatal brain injury (PBI) leads to neurological disabilities throughout life, from motor deficits, cognitive limitations to severe cerebral palsy. Yet, perinatal brain damage has limited therapeutic outcomes. Besides, the immature brain of premature children is at increased risk of hypoxic/ischemic (HI) injury, with males being more susceptible to it and less responsive to protective/therapeutical interventions. Here, we model in male and female C57BL/6 mice, the impact of neonatal HI and the protective effects of neonatal handling (NH), an early life tactile and proprioceptive sensory stimulation. From postnatal day 1 (PND1, modeling pre-term) to PND21 randomized litters received either…

«Men dere øver på det hjemme?» : realiseringen av det delte oppdragermandat: en fortolkende studie av kommunikativ praksis i barnehagens foreldresamt…
2016
Masteroppgave pedagogikk - Universitetet i Agder 2016 Det primære pedagogiske mandat, hovedansvaret for barnas oppdragelse, ligger hos foreldrene (Evenshaug & Hallen, 1997).
Recent advances in the application of microbial transglutaminase crosslinking in cheese and ice cream products: A review
2018
Microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) has been currently utilized to form new food structures and matrices with high physicochemical stability. Incorporation of this multi-functional enzyme into structural composition of milk protein-based products, such as cheese and ice cream, can not only be a successful strategy to improve their nutritional and technological characteristics through intramolecular cross-linking, but also to reduce the production cost by decreasing fat and stabilizer contents. The recent research developments and promising results of MTGase application in producing functional formulations of cheese and ice cream with higher quality characteristics are reviewed. New interest…
Video display terminal use and dry eye: preventive measures and future perspectives
2022
Background: Dry eye disease (DED) is a common cause of ocular pain and discomfort. Dry eye disease (DED) stems from a loss-of-tear film homeostasis and is frequently seen in video display terminal (VDT) users. Video display terminal (VDT) use reduces blink rates and increases incomplete blinks, leading to tear film instability and ocular inflammation, promoting DED. Purpose: To assess and evaluate the methods for preventing VDT-associated DED and ocular discomfort. Methods: Studies were found using PubMed and Embase with the search terms: (digital visual terminal* OR computer use OR screen use OR smartphone OR display OR visual display terminal* OR computer vision syndrome OR tablet OR phon…
Ethical dilemmas as professional challenge : case study on management in reception centers in Finland
2017
This study examined what kinds of ethical dilemmas managers working in reception centers in Finland have encountered as well as what kinds of strategies they applied in ethically challenging situations, and finally, what ethical dimensions the strategies included. This specific topic has not been investigated before, thus, this study aimed to theoretically and empirically examine it. Theoretical framework bases on Geva’s (2006) typology of ethical dilemmas, Jones’ (1991) issue- contingent model of moral intensity, and Rahim & Bonoma’s (1979) model of the styles of handling interpersonal conflict. The study is qualitative in nature, and was conducted by interviewing ten (10) managers working…
Behavioral Profiling in Early Adolescence and Early Adulthood of Male Wistar Rats After Short and Prolonged Maternal Separation
2020
Early-life stress and its possible correlations to genes, environment, and later health outcomes can only be studied retrospectively in humans. Animal models enable the exploration of such connections with prospective, well-controlled study designs. However, with the recent awareness of replicability issues in preclinical research, the reproducibility of results from animal models has been highlighted. The present study aims to reproduce the behavioral effects of maternal separation (MS) previously observed in the multivariate concentric square fieldTM (MCSF) test. A second objective was to replicate the adolescent behavioral profiles previously described in the MCSF test. Male rats, subjec…
Ultrasound Curricula of Student Education in Europe : Summary of the Experience
2020
Abstract Background Despite the increasing role of ultrasound, structured ultrasound teaching is only slowly being integrated into the curricula of medical schools and universities all over Europe. Aim To survey the current situation at European universities regarding the integration of ultrasound in student medical education and to report on models of student ultrasound training from selected European universities. Methods A questionnaire survey focusing on the implementation of curricular ultrasound education was sent out to the 28 presidents of the national ultrasound societies of the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB), who were asked to dist…
