Abstract Following the interesting arguments raised in a recent letter to the editor, about a paper recently published in this journal, the authors are happy to take a cue from them to clarify some facts that have not been sufficiently treated for space. After a description of the methods used, arguments regarding a blunt trauma on the right shoulder with consequent dislocation, the position of the hands on the pubis with brachial plexus injury, and the wrist nailing that caused retracted thumbs are discussed in detail.
A TDMA-Based MAC Protocol Supporting Cooperative Communications in Wireless Mesh Networks

This paper proposes a TDMA-based medium access control protocol which enables cooperative communications in multi-hop wireless mesh networks. According to the proposed scheme, each router at the two-hop neighbourhood of each other is allocated to a specific time slot for accommodating either direct or cooperative transmissions in a coordinated manner, controlled by mini-slots which are part of the time slot. Benefiting from the elaborate mini-slot design, channel resources are fairly and efficiently allocated to each router so that no handshake is needed prior to each packet transmission. This study deals with the conception of “writing” within the German humanities during the « psychological turn » of the last half of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth centuries. The focal point is “graphism” and “writing” understood as “expressive movements” (Ausdrucksbewegungen), this notion being bound to the concept of “verbal gesture” within the trend of “psychological linguistics” (1850-1930). Inspired initially by the morphological and physiognomonic tradition (J. Lavater, J. W. Goethe, J. Engel, C. Carus, Th. A privacy enhanced device access protocol for an IoT context

In this paper, we present the case for a device authentication protocol that authenticates a device/service class rather than an individual device. The devices in question are providing services available to the public. The proposed protocol is an online protocol, and it uses a pseudo-random temporary identity scheme to provide user privacy. This allows the Internet-of-Things device to have full assurance of the user, with respect to the request service, while permitting the user to remain anonymous with respect to the device. The user can then enjoy identity and location privacy in addition to untraceability with respect to device access. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
