Integration of composition parameters, structure, processing and drying of chitosan systems is correlated to its physico chemical and functional properties. Validation of a Portuguese version of the Groningen radiotherapy-induced xerostomia questionnaire

The aim of this study was to validate and determine at pretest level the reliability of the Portuguese version of the Groningen radiotherapy-induced xerostomia questionnaire. This study employed 37 head and neck cancer patients. Each patient signed an informed consent and responded to the Portuguese version of the questionnaire in the form of an interview. This was repeated again after 2 weeks. A standard single question provided a validity check. Fate-mapping in the procephalic region of the embryonic Drosopbila head

Using intracellular horseradish peroxidase injection we traced the developmental fate of early gastrula cells of the procephalic region in the stage 16/17 embryo. Morphogenetic movements in the developing brain are described in three dimensions. The results are related to head segmentation, and an early gastrula fate map of pregnathal head segments is proposed.

Exchange of immature loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) between the northern and southern regions of the western Mediterranean was investigated using data obtained from several Spanish tagging programmes. Tagged turtles ranged in straight carapace length from 23.0 to 74.0 cm. Thirty-six turtles were recaptured after an average interval of 390.5±462.6 days (SD). As the mean dispersal distance (MDD) of a turtle population that spreads over the western Mediterranean would stabilize after 117 days (CI 95%: 98 to 149), two analyses were conducted that included data from turtles recaptured after 98 and 149 days respectively.
