The People Who Occupied The Fallen Angels' Chairs in Heaven: A Reiterated Idea in the Fifteenth Century, the Valencian Golden Age

2018

Johannes Ludovicus Vives (1493-1540) repeatedly used the symbolic image of humans occupying the fallen angels' chairs in heaven. In fact, the purpose of the creation of human beings seemed to be to occupy those empty chairs in paradise. This article focuses on the recurrent presence of that idea in the Valencian literature of the fifteenth century. It was a thought that was widely accepted even among people of a limited educational background. This paper supports the idea that Vives was the scholar who took this well-known belief from his homeland and introduced his Erasmian circle to it. That process of dissemination is described and explained by quoting some fragments of the most importan…

Liturgy and Philanthropy Today

2020

The Liturgy is the holy and the sanctifying divine service in which the most merciful love of God for men or the divine Philanthropy is celebrated in the most intense way. The true Liturgy takes place in heaven and in this sense there is only one Liturgy, that of the perfect love of the Holy Trinity in which all creatures are called to participate. Human beings connected through the body to this world can do so through the cultic ritual, which is in essence, a diastole, an exit of God’s love to the world, in order to attract through the systole of his love all creatures to the life of communion. The Eucharistic Liturgy is this universal dynamism that draws the whole cosmos to union with God…

Stairway to organic heaven: The impact of social and temporal distance in print ads

2022

Abstract Multiple studies employ consumers’ intentions rather than actual purchases when assessing organic food consumption. These studies typically suggest a green bias in organic market share. Employing reactance and construal level theory, this research investigates the impact of one’s social distance to the character depicted in ads (animal vs. human) and the temporal distance (present vs. future) toward organic animal husbandry on consumers’ purchase responses directly; indirectly, as related to the portrayed character; and generally to organic foods. Three 2 (temporal distance: low, high) × 2 (social distance: low, high) between-subjects experiments demonstrate that low social distanc…

2017

This dissertation deals with the iconography of the Zodiac between Antiquity and Middle Age, in particular in churches between the XIth and the XIIIth century. The heart of the dissertation is the analysis of a corpus of 260 items. These items concern the figuration of the signs of the Zodiac and the Labors of the months, whether or not combinated, within ecclesial ornamentation between the XIth and the XIIIth century. This period corresponds to the “renaissance” and to the growth of the figuration of the Zodiac in this context. The study is divided into three parts. The first section deals with historiography and with the presentation of the corpus. Then, the origins, re-appropriations and…

The Throne of God as a prototype of primacy in the Church and in creation

2019

This study emphasises the cosmic dimensions of the Church understood as the Throne of God, analysing its understanding in this way by the great writers and thinkers of the ancient world, for example, Philo the Alexandrine, Saint Dionysius the Areopagite and Saint Irene of Lyon. The reconstitution of all the cosmological contexts and understanding of the Throne of God inspired by the texts of the ancient authors is opening a very interesting perspective over the existence of the Church as a cosmic Throne of God and reassembling of all the heavenly and intelligible creations sustained and vivified by the primal light of God transmitted in this way towards the lower degrees of the heavenly ang…

Fisiologia e patologia della fiscal competition

2017

2017

Turystyczny przewodnik po Piekle Mikołaja Reja, czyli o międzyplanetarnych podróżach duszy ludzkiej

2020

The article deals with the complex issue of presenting the underworld in the Reja's Wizerunk. The author draws attention to the presence in the output of the old Polish poet of many visionary elements borrowed from the most varied traditions and religious systems. The popular pattern of searching for spiritual perfection, fixed in the archetype of the topographic movement of the hero (Latin: Homo viator) turns out to be particularly visible. It turns out that at the very foundations of this imaginative pattern there is an ancient doctrine or interplanetary wandering of the soul. Most of the work was focused on the description of XI songs of Reja’s WizerunV, where a description of hell appea…
