Generalized polarizabilities of the nucleon in chiral effective theories
1999
Using the techniques of chiral effective field theories we evaluate the so called generalized polarizabilities of the nucleon, which characterize the structure dependent components in virtual Compton scattering (VCS) as probed in the electron scattering reaction e N \to e' N gamma. Results are given for both spin-dependent and spin-independent structure effects to O(p^3) in SU(2) Heavy Baryon Chiral Perturbation Theory and to O(epsilon^3) in the SU(2) Small Scale Expansion. Finally we compare our calculations with results from the pioneering VCS experiment on the proton from Mainz.
Radiative and non radiative muon capture on the proton in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory
1998
We have evaluated the amplitude for muon capture by a proton, mu + p --> n + nu, to O(p^3) within the context of heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT) using the new O(p^3) Lagrangian of Ecker and Mojzis (E&M). We obtain expressions for the standard muon capture form factors and determine three of the coefficients of the E&M Lagrangian, namely, b_7, b_{19}, and b_{23}. We describe progress on the next step, a calculation of the radiative muon capture process, mu + p --> n + nu + gamma.
Threshold electro production of neutral pions at low q2 off the proton and off the deuteron
2000
Abstract The A1 Collaboration performs an extend program to measure threshold production of the neutral pion as test of Heavy Baryon Chiral Perturbation Theory. Starting with direct threshold measurements to extract the s wave amplitudes at threshold we continued with out of plane measurements with polarized beam to access the small p wave amplitudes. Coherent production off the deuteron is the first attempt to access the neutron amplitude in electro production.
Masses of doubly charmed baryons in the extended on-mass-shell renormalization scheme
2016
In this work, we investigate the mass corrections of the doubly charmed baryons up to $N^2LO$ in the extended-on-mass-shell (EOMS) renormalization scheme, comparing with the results of heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. We find that the terms from the heavy baryon approach are a subset of those obtained in the EOMS scheme. By fitting the lattice data, we can determine the parameters $\tilde{m}$, $\alpha$, $c_1$ and $c_7$ from the Lagrangian, while in the heavy baryon approach no information on $c_1$ can be obtained from the baryons mass. Correspondingly, the masses of $m_{\Xi_{cc}}$ and $m_{\Omega_{cc}}$ are predicted, in the EOMS scheme, extrapolating the results from different value…
Molecular interpretation of the XYZ states
2012
We study the vector – vector system including all the possible channels with quantum numbers charm = 0, strangeness = 0 around the energy region of 4000 MeV. New states with hidden charm around 4000MeV have been discovered by the B factories. They are intriguingly close to the D*D¯*${D^*}{ar D^*}$ and Ds*D¯s*$D_s^*ar D_s^*$ thresholds and do not have the properties of the charmonium states. We study the possible formation of D*D¯*${D^*}{ar D^*}$ and Ds*D¯s*$D_s^*ar D_s^*$ bound states in the framework of the Hidden Gauge formalism and discuss some of the models that favor the molecular assumption of some XYZ states: The hidden gauge formalism, Heavy baryon Chiral Perturbation Theory and the …
Neutral Pion Threshold Production atQ2=0.05GeV2/c2and Chiral Perturbation Theory
2001
New data are presented on the $p({e,e}^{\ensuremath{'}}p){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ reaction at threshold at a four-momentum transfer of ${Q}^{2}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.05{\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}{/c}^{2}$. The data were taken with the three-spectrometer setup of the A1 Collaboration at the Mainz Microtron MAMI. The complete center of mass solid angle was covered up to a center of mass energy of 4 MeV above threshold. Combined with measurements at three different values of the virtual photon polarization $\ensuremath{\epsilon}$, the structure functions ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{T}$, ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{L}$, ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{TT}}$, and ${\ensuremath{\sigma…
Electromagnetic form factors of spin 1/2 doubly charmed baryons
2018
We study the electromagnetic form factors of the doubly charmed baryons, using covariant chiral perturbation theory within the extended on-mass-shell (EOMS) scheme. Vector-meson contributions are also taken into account. We present results for the baryon magnetic moments, charge and magnetic radii. While some of the chiral Lagrangian parameters could be set to values determined in previous works, the available lattice results for $\Xi_{cc}^+$ and $\Omega_{cc}^+$ only allow for robust constraints on the low-energy constant (LEC) combination, $c_{89}(=-\frac{1}{3}c_8+4c_9)$. The couplings of the doubly charmed baryons to the vector mesons have been estimated assuming the Okubo--Zweig--Iizuka …
