Helena Niemirowska Syrkus. Graphic Analysis of the ‘House of Dr. N. in Warsaw’

The paper proposes a graphic re-reading of the “House of Dr. N. in Warsaw” that Helena Niemirowska, female pioneer of Modern Movement, designed in 1932. The building, on two levels, shows in its form a strict geometric layout and a three parted-subdivision plan in which she defines the functional inside layout both at the ground floor and at the first one. Helena combines Suprematism and the Modern Movement, cultural influences that are revealed, as well as in her other projects, by surfaces, colours and volumes of seemingly static treatment.

The paper focuses on the changes that occurred to the architecture of industrial relations in Southern-European countries during the last decade. In particular, the bargaining systems of Italy, France, Spain, Greece and Portugal are compared, with a particular attention to the legislative measures enacted under the influence of international institutions after the 2008 financial and sovereign debt crisis. The theoretical framework, under which the process of transformation is analysed, is the literature on comparative politics as recently reviewed by Thelen. Tutkielmassani käsittelen Kristillisen Työväen Liiton politiikasta vetäytymistä. Liitto otti osaa poliittisena puolueena vuosien 1907-1919 eduskuntavaaleihin saavuttaen enimmillään kaksi samanaikaista kansanedustajan paikkaa. Valtakunnan politiikasta vetäytymisen jälkeen liitto jatkoi toimintaansa valistus- ja evankeliointijärjestönä. Kristillinen Työväen Liitto sai alkunsa vuonna 1906 sosialidemokraattisessa työväenliikkeessä omaksutun ateismin vastustamisesta ja kirkollisten piirien halusta suitsia radikaaliksi muuttunutta työväenliikettä. Tumor cell specific toxicity of Inula helenium extracts.

The aim of the research program was to identify botanical extracts with antineoplastic activity. In this respect extracts prepared from Inula helenium roots showed a remarkable activity. As evidenced by the MTT assay, the Inula helenium extract revealed a highly selective toxicity toward four different tumor cell lines (HT-29, MCF-7, Capan-2 and G1), but a much lower toxicity against healthy human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) from two donors. The extract-induced death of tumor cells was studied extensively by electron microscopy.
