The Impact of the New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme on Township Hospitals' Utilization and Income Structure in Weifang Prefecture, China

The New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme was gradually introduced from 2003 in China. This paper is based on a representative survey of 24 randomly selected township hospitals in Weifang prefecture over the period 2000-2008. Using a generalized form of differences-in-differences model, it aims to assess the effect of the reform on the utilization and income structure of the township hospitals. The estimations provide three main results linked to the effects of the New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme on the behavior of the key stakeholders (households, health care providers and Health Bureau). We report the Soret absorption spectra (500-350 nm) of the cyanomet derivatives of human hemoglobin and horse myoglobin, in the temperature range 300-20 K and in two different solvents (65% v/v glycerol-water or 65% v/v ethylene glycol-water). Heme oxygenase-1 induction by nitric oxide in RAW 264.7 macrophages is upregulated by a cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitor.

Unstimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages express negligible heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) protein but incubation with the nitric oxide (NO) donor spermine nonoate (SPNO) induced HO-1 and weakly cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) protein. This effect was potentiated by coincubation with the COX-2 selective inhibitor, SC58125. Cells incubated with SPNO showed a strong increase in HO-1 mRNA levels after 4 h with a significant potentiation in the presence of SC58125, which did not modify HO-1 mRNA stability. The induction of HO-1 by NO and its potentiation by anti-inflammatory agents may play a role in inflammatory and immune responses.

Abstract Background The importance of high quality preprocedural bowel preparation is widely acknowledged, but suboptimal bowel cleansing still occurs in up to 20 % of all colonoscopy patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of a novel intraprocedural cleaning device for cleaning poorly prepared colons. Analysis of the Characteristics in the Meudon Constrained Evolution Scheme

A first analysis of the characteristics associated with the evolving modes in the constraint evolution scheme proposed by the Meudon group in 2004 is presented. The system is written in a first-order hyperbolic form and a so-called generalized Dirac gauge is considered. Applications to inner boundary conditions in an excised approach to black hole evolutions are discussed.

Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is a stress protein induced by a variety of stimuli in inflammatory cells. This study was set up to investigate the induction of this protein in unstimulated macrophages. Resident mouse peritoneal macrophages purified by adhesion and cultured in basal conditions strongly induced HO-1 in a time-dependent manner, with a peak at 20 hr.
