Rhinocylapoides brachypterus, a new cylapine genus and species from Malaysia (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae)

Rhinocylapoides brachypterus gen. et sp. nov. is described from Malaysia. Illustrations of the male genitalia, color photographs of the adult, and a habitat photograph of specimens of the new genus are provided.

Taxonomic catalogue of the family Ochteridae with description of Ochterus papaceki sp. nov. from Socotra Island and Tanzania (Hemiptera: Heteroptera)

The world catalogue of the family Ochteridae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Nepomorpha: Ochteroidea) is compiled. The fossil subfamily Propreocorinae Popov, Dolling & Whalley, 1994, recently excluded from Ochteridae by other authors, is formally raised to family rank as Propreocoridae stat. nov. The fossil genus Meropachys Popov, 1986 is found to be a junior homonym of Meropachys Burmeister, 1835 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Coreidae) and is replaced by a new substitute name, Yuripachys nom. nov., resulting in one new combination: Yuripachys dubius (Popov, 1986) comb. nov. Hypsipyrgias joseliae sp. n. (Heteroptera: Tingidae: Tinginae) from New Guinea is described, illustrated and compared with its two relatives, namely H. telamonides Kirkaldy, 1908 from Australia, and H. euphues Drake and Ruhoff, 1962 from Lord Howe Island. Key to species of the genus Hypsipyrgias is also provided. Two genera very closely related to Hypsipyrgias Kirkaldy, 1908, namely Hypsotingis Drake, 1960 and Diplocysta Horváth, 1925 are re-diagnosed. Diplocysta globuliformis Hacker, 1928, D. papuana Drake, 1960, D. rustica, Drake, 1960 and D. thaleia Drake and Ruhoff, 1965 are transferred from Diplocysta to Hypsotingis.

Two new genera and species of the Fulviini (Hemiptera, Heteroptera, Miridae, Cylapinae) from Madagascar, with a checklist of Madagascan cylapines

Two new genera, each represented by a single new species, Cassisotropis aciformis Taszakowski et al. gen. et sp. nov. and Infernotropis madagascariensis Taszakowski et al. gen. et sp. nov. are described from Madagascar. Photographs and SEM micrographs of the male and female habitus, genital structures and selected morphological structures are presented. The first record of Fulvius anthocoroides (Reuter, 1875) in Madagascar and the checklist of Madagascan cylapines are also provided.

The Romanian fauna comprises two species of Aquarius Schellenberg, 1800, eight species of Gerris Fabricius, 1794 and one species of Limnoporus Stål, 1868, and we hereby update the distribution and provide insights on the phenology and ecology of all eleven species in this country. We furthermore update the distribution of the two closely related species Gerris gibbifer Schummel, 1832 and G. maculatus Tamanini, 1946 in southeastern Europe. Gerris maculatus is recorded for the first time from Hungary, Montenegro and Slovenia, and the first detailed localities from Romania and Serbia are given. A study on the genus Macroscytus Fieber, 1860 from China (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Cydnidae)

Eight species of the genus Macroscytus Fieber, 1860 are reported from China. Among these is M. vietnamicus J.A. Lis, 1991, recorded for the first time from the country; moreover, the occurrence of M. badius (Walker, 1867) in its southern parts (Hainan Province) is confirmed. A key to the Chinese species of the genus is provided, along with habitus figures and illustrations of hind legs and the male genitalia. A phenomenon of instability in the cephalic chaetotaxy of M. aequalis (Walker, 1867), M. badius, M. popovi J.A. Lis, 1991, and M. vietnamicus J.A. Lis, 1994, are briefly discussed.

Recent dramatic spread of the grapevine yellows disease Bois Noir (BN) in Germany is above all explained by highly increased abundances of the vector Hyalesthes obsoletus (Hemiptera: Cixiidae) associated to the plant Urtica dioica, the reservoir of the BN pathogen stolbur tuf-type-I. The vector acquires BN-phytoplasma as larvae whilst feeding on the roots of infected U. dioica. Radial and peripheral clines in northern polymorphic populations of Philaenus spumarius

Geographic variability in the colour polymorphism of Philaenus spumarius (Homoptera) was investigated in the northern parts of Finland, Norway and Sweden. The investigation was directed mainly at peripheral populations south of the Baltic—Arctic divide. The colour phenotypes were found to differ in their “north tolerance”. The phenotypes typ (pt/pt) and lat (pt/pt) were the most, and the phenotype tri (pt/pT) the least tolerant to marginal conditions. Differences in “north tolerance” between the phenotypes cause radial clines to be present in allele frequencies. The radial clines may be caused by the combined effect of several different factors. Parts of the archipelago of the Baltic Sea are rising above the water level at a steady, slow rate. Plant species appear on the emerging islands in a definite order, and an early stage and a late stage can be distinguished in the development of meadows on the islands. In 1969–1973 four populations of Philaenus spumarius living in meadows at the early stage had widely different frequencies of the alleles determining colour polymorphism. In the same years three Philaenus populations living on islands with meadows at the late stage had closely similar allele frequencies.
