Effects of Rosiglitazone on Fasting and Postprandial Low- and High-Density Lipoproteins Size and Subclasses in Type 2 Diabetes

Rosiglitazone may increase cardiovascular risk in patients with type 2 diabetes. Yet, its effects on atherogenic dyslipidemia are still not fully elucidated. In a prospective open-label study rosiglitazone (4 mg/day for 12 weeks) was added to a maximum of 2 oral antidiabetic drugs in 18 diabetic patients. We evaluated the effects on plasma lipids before and after an oral fat load. The size and subclasses of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) were also determined (by gradient gel electrophoresis). Chronic constipation that is unresponsive to laxative treatment is a severe illness, but children unresponsive to laxatives have been successfully treated with an elimination diet. We report the first cases of refractory chronic constipation caused by food hypersensitivity in adults. The rapidity and efficacy of a short course of liposomal amphotericin B was evaluated in 29 children affected by visceral leishmaniasis (Leishmania infantum). Their overall health status was assessed using the prognostic inflammatory and nutritional index (PINI), and their haematological status by the reticulocyte count and haemoglobin blood levels. All these quantities were measured on day 0, and 3 and 10 d after starting therapy. Two important sequential steps mediate adrenergic signal transduction by cGMP, receptor-stimulated nitric oxide (NO) formation by the enzyme NO synthase I (NOS I), and NO-induced cGMP formation by the cytosolic enzyme guanylyl cyclase. The aim of this study was to evaluate serum level of hemoglobin, C-reactive protein (CRP) and ferritin as possible liquid biopsy to predict survival, metastasis and tumor relapse of OSCC.A prospective clinical study was conducted. Anemia was induced in rats by the development of a hemorrhagic ascites. These animals also bore solid tumors (DS-sarcomas) on the hind foot dorsum. The effects of two methods for anemia correction on oxygenation in the solid tumors were compared in this study. Anemia was corrected either chronically by erythropoietin administration (1000 IU/kg) over 14 days (EPO) or acutely by transfusion with red blood cells (TR).
