Background Atherosclerosis is a disease triggered by diverse exogenous stimuli and sustained by chronic inflammatory processes. Dendritic cells (DCs) are key regulatory antigen-presenting cells and play a crucial role in regulating the adaptive and innate immune system in any chronic inflammatory process. In many ways, atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disorder and this issue is confirmed by recent investigations of that have focused on inflammation, providing new insight into mechanisms of disease. This study aims to decipher the role of LXRs in the regulation of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) synthesis in macrophages in the context of atherosclerosis. PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to correlate left main (LM) coronary artery dimensions with the presence of atherosclerosis by multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) coronary angiography (CA) and to assess coronary atherosclerotic plaques with a semiquantitative method. Clinical Appropriateness of Coronary Angiography

Background: The study evaluates the appropriateness of coronary angiography and the agreement between the used method and the presence of coronary artery disease by the indications proposed from American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (1999). Method: The guidelines allow us to associate to Class I and IIa the judgment of appropriateness, to the Class IIb of uncertainty; to Class III of inappropriateness.
