Is Leader Developing Behavior related to Employees' Health Complaints? A Multilevel Investigation

2020

The goals of this study were to ascertain whether a specific leadership behavior (developing subordinates) is related to employees' health complaints and determine some of the underlying mechanisms involved. The hypothesized relationships were investigated in a sample composed of 538 employees working in 170 work-units of a public regional health service. Multilevel structural equation modeling was used to estimate the hypothesized relationships at the individual and work-unit levels. Results obtained at the individual level showed, as expected, that leader developing behavior was negatively related to employees' health complaints through two mediators: organizational commitment and emotion…

FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE HEALTH SECTOR IN ROMANIA

2015

This paper comprises an assessment of the Romanian health financing policy and a detailed analysis of income and expenditure trends over the past seven years. The current situation of the health system is evaluated by reviewing the existing health legislation and documents on public health policies from Romania and from abroad, by analyzing the official statistics (the Romanian Yearbook of Health Statistics, Who database) and by performing a healthcare system financial analysis. Although the financial efforts of the Romanian state to support the health system have increased, almost all the incomes and expenditures of the health care system having recorded significant increases, the populati…

Coastal high-frequency radars in the Mediterranean – Part 1: Status of operations and a framework for future development

2022

Due to the semi-enclosed nature of the Mediterranean Sea, natural disasters and anthropogenic activities impose stronger pressures on its coastal ecosystems than in any other sea of the world. With the aim of responding adequately to science priorities and societal challenges, littoral waters must be effectively monitored with high-frequency radar (HFR) systems. This land-based remote sensing technology can provide, in near-real time, fine-resolution maps of the surface circulation over broad coastal areas, along with reliable directional wave and wind information. The main goal of this work is to showcase the current status of the Mediterranean HFR network and the future roadmap for orches…

Coastal high-frequency radars in the Mediterranean - Part 2: Applications in support of science priorities and societal needs

2022

The Mediterranean Sea is a prominent climate-change hot spot, with many socioeconomically vital coastal areas being the most vulnerable targets for maritime safety, diverse met-ocean hazards and marine pollution. Providing an unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution at wide coastal areas, high-frequency radars (HFRs) have been steadily gaining recognition as an effective land-based remote sensing technology for continuous monitoring of the surface circulation, increasingly waves and occasionally winds. HFR measurements have boosted the thorough scientific knowledge of coastal processes, also fostering a broad range of applications, which has promoted their integration in coastal ocean …

Divu lomu spēļu statistiska salīdzināšana

2020

THE CONTEMPORARY APPROACH OF TAXATION, FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF ITS HISTORICAL EVOLUTION. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

2020

The topic of this research focuses on the study of the taxation process, which is one of the oldest activities in human history and has played a key role in civilized societies for thousands of years, developing its roots with the emergence of the state and trade relations between people. The research methodology is mainly based on the method of theoretical research and the method of reading the literature, being mainly a qualitative research, designed to provide a generous substrate in addressing the process of taxation in economic life. Thus, this theoretical research aims to briefly cover the most important historical stages of taxation in order to provide a comprehensive definition of t…

The Importance of Air Connectivity and the Impact on Romanian Airports

2019

In a world where passenger air travel is set to keep a positive growth rate over the years, airports all over the world are striving to increase their connectivity rate by attracting different airline companies, either for point to point connections or hub connectivity to wider the number of destinations reached from the airport to all over the world via a hub. From an airport perspective, creating a strategy to increase the connectivity performance index requires a lot of market analysis, following latest developments of hub connections from all over Europe, as hub connectivity tends to change on a yearly basis. Airport connectivity performance is directly linked to growth, studies (ACI Eu…

Demographic determinants of creativity: the analysis of the development of creative potential and forecast for the Baltic states

2017

AbstractHuman capital, affected by the demographic determinants, nowadays becomes a novel driver of change and regional development. Changes in the modern economy determine the future leading role of human capital, especially its creative dimension in the development of modern, sustainable competitive advantages of countries and regions. Considering the negative demographical tendencies in the Baltic States, the aim of this paper is to analyse and forecast the development of creative potential in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Our methodology is based on the estimation of a regression model describing the relations between Global Creativity Index (GCI) and its components with the available …

Employer Brand Role in HR Recruitment and Selection

2015

Abstract This paper’s research focuses on employer brand (EB) development as a solution for public sector organizations to attract the young specialists of Latvia. The author uses monographic research method, selection, comparison, induction and statistical data interpretation to explore the situation and potential outcomes of the proposed approach to Human Resource Recruitment and Selection. The research results show that public organizations in Latvia still need to improve their positioning on labour market and work harder on their EB.
