Changes of peroxisomal fatty acid metabolism during cold acclimatization in hibernating jerboa (Jaculus orientalis)
2003
Abstract Jerboa (Jaculus orientalis) is a deep hibernator originating from sub-desert highlands and represents an excellent model to help to understand the incidence of seasonal variations of food intake and of body as well as environmental temperatures on lipid metabolism. In jerboa, hibernation processes are characterized by changes in the size of mitochondria, the number of peroxisomes in liver and in the expression of enzymes linked to fatty acid metabolism. In liver and kidney, cold acclimatization shows an opposite effect on the activities of the mitochondrial acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (–50%) and the peroxisomal acyl-CoA oxidase (AOX) (+50%), while in brown and white adipose tissues, bot…
Die Wirkung von Cyproheptadin auf die Winterschlafbereitschaft und die jahreszeitlichen Körpergewichtsänderungen beim sibirischen BackenhörnchenTamia…
1971
The effect of cyproheptadin (4 mg/kg per os) on the typical weight cycle of sibirian chipmunksTamias (Eutamias)sibiricus before and during the hibernation period was studied. The substance leads to a complete inhibition of hibernation and the bodyweight reaches a lower level than in control animals.
Serologisch-hämatologische und immunologische Untersuchungen an winterschlafenden Fledermäusen (Myotis myotis S.)
1963
Antibody deficiency in hibernating bats (Myotis myotis S.) was shown by precipitin reaction. Theγ-globulins in serum of hibernating bats decreased to one half of the normal value. There is significant leukopenia, lymphopenia and eosinopenia. Injected bovine albumin was completely removed within 9 days in active animals, in torpid animals only 1/25 was absorbed from the 6th to the 23rd day.

New Data on Ichneumonid Hibernation(Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae)in the Barnova Forest Massif (Iasi County, Romania)
2014
In this paper the authors present the results of their researches made in the period of 2006–2010 on the hibernation of some ichneumonid species in the Bârnova forest massif (Iaşi county). 30 species of ichneumonids (only females) belonging to 20 genera of the the subfamily Ichneumoninae were recorded. Five of these species are new as hibernating. During the studied period there were established 6 hibernating stations, but with a low abundance.
Nietoperze Chiroptera: estywacja, hibernacja, torpor
2021
Wahania temperatury otoczenia i obniżona wilgotność powodują u wielu zwierząt, w t u nietoperzy, stres fizjologiczny.

Overwintering Site Fidelity in the European Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis) in Western Poland
2015
The location of overwintering sites of six male and six female European pond turtles (Emys orbicularis) were studied using radiotelemetry in Western Poland, over a period of four consecutive seasons. Most of the studied individuals overwintered in the same area during the research; most distances between two consecutive overwintering sites were 0–25 m. However, changes related to the overwintering area were observed, and in such cases the distance between overwintering sites on two consecutive seasons could exceed 2 km. These results can support an efficient conservation strategy of the turtle population.
