Real-Time Processes of Career Goal Construction : A Study Case Approach with Implications for the Development of Adolescents’ Identity

The study aimed at investigating how different young people going through the post-high school transition set, monitor, pursue, and renegotiate career goals in real-time and in everyday life circumstances. A theoretically driven proposition supported the conceptualization of career goals as complex dynamic systems and guided the examination and description of the moment-to-moment processes shaping the (re)construction of career goals. Student Athletes’ Causal Attributions for Sport and School Achievement in Relation to Sport Dropout and Grade Point Average

The present study longitudinally examined stability and change in the attributional profiles of Finnish student athletes (n = 391) in upper secondary sport schools. Moreover, it examined the extent to which these profiles, and changes in them, were associated with athletes’ level of sport competition and school achievements and dropouts at the end of upper secondary sport school. Using latent profile analysis, five different and highly stable attributional profiles were identified for student athletes: (a) depressive (6.9%), (b) athletic self-serving (23.0%), (c) average (16.4%), (d) learned helplessness (30.9%), and (e) responsible (22.8%). Adapting Formal Logic for Everyday Mathematics

Although logic is considered central to mathematics and computer science, there is evidence that teaching logic has not been a great success. We identify three issues where what is typically taught conflicts with what is needed by those who are supposed to apply logic. First, what is taught about the notion of implication often disagrees with human intuition. We argue that in some cases human intuition is wrong, and in some others teaching is to blame. Automated Checking of Flexible Mathematical Reasoning in the Case of Systems of (In)Equations and the Absolute Value Operator

We present an approach and a tool for automatically providing feedback on solutions that involve complicated reasoning patterns. Currently the tool supports linear systems of equations and inequations that may also contain the absolute value operator and a restricted form of rational functions. This suffices for designing problems that are laborious to solve with standard mechanical procedures, but much easier using short-cuts that students may find by creative thinking. Si è conclusa il 15 maggio 2019 la prima parte di una ricerca- intervento ispirata alla teoria del pensiero narrativo, ai principi dell’educational counseling e della didattica orientativa. È stata effettuata un’indagine pilota ispirata alla teoria di Pennebaker e ai principi della scuola rogersiana di counseling. 88 studenti del quinto anno di un liceo di Enna hanno partecipato, tra il mese di novembre 2015 e il mese di maggio 2016, a un progetto di orientamento che ha previsto la sperimentazione della metodologia educativa «SeCo» (Scrittura espressiva e Colloquio di orientamento) per la costruzione del loro progetto di vita professionale.
