In the light of experimental results showing significant forward centre of mass (CoM) displacements within the base of support, this study investigated if whole body reaching movements can be executed whilst keeping the CoM fixed in the horizontal axis. Using kinematic simulation techniques, angular configurations were recreated from experimental data imposing two constraints: a constant horizontal position of the CoM and an identical trajectory of the hand to grasp an object. Electromechanical delay estimated by using electromyography during cycling at different pedaling frequencies. Healthy men (n = 12) participated in a double-blind, randomized, crossover study in which 3 olive oils with low (LPC), moderate (MPC), and high (HPC) phenolic content were given as raw doses (25 mL/d) for 4 consecutive days preceded by 10-d washout periods. The dose-dependent inhibition of platelet aggregation by the chemically stable, prostacyclin-mimetic, iloprost, was studied in patients suffering from stage II-III peripheral arterial obliterative disease (PAOD). The study was designed as a randomized placebo-controlled cross-over trial. Iloprost was administered i.v. to six patients at doses of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 ng/kg X min for 4 h, with an interval of 2-3 days between the infusions.
