Obiettivo del testo è tentare di indicare alcuni aspetti del dibattito storiografico moderno sul rapporto tra etnicità e culti nella Sicilia antica, partendo dal presupposto, credo ampiamente condiviso, che ogni ricostruzione storica del passato è anche un terreno di scontro sul presente dello storico. Vi è insomma un rapporto fondamentale tra presente e passato, rapporto che si inscrive dialetticamente nella tensione comprendere il presente mediante il passato e comprendere il passato mediante il presente. The demos in Herodian

In Herodian’s historical view the demos appears to play an important political role in critical stages of the Roman empire. The political success of an emperor depends on the popular approval in Rome or in the provincial cities, besides the support of the soldiers. The essay aims to evaluate the relationship between demos and armies, between demos and senate from Commodus to Maximinus, and to analyze the differences in this chronological period. The use of the words demos and ochlos, in Herodian’ s historical work, has different values: it reveals that the historian cannot be defined philo-popular, but shows throughout interest in the popular partecipation in civil struggles.

The essay deals with Rudolf Eitelberger's lecture series on the theory of the fine arts in the context of contemporary aesthetic and art-theoretical conceptions. Particular attention is paid to the works of Carl Friedrich von Rumohr, Otfried Müller, Franz Ficker and Franz Kugler, whose significance in Viennese art life is examined in detail. The appendix contains a critical edition of Eitelberger's lecture manuscript (Wien, Wienbibliothek im Rathaus).

Si cerca di dimostrare che il "Carmen de bello Actiaco" (PHerc 817) e´ stato composto in eta´ neroniana (se non addirittura vespasianea) e non augustea, come generalmente si crede. Si cerca anche di mostrare che esso non e´ di tendenza antiaugustea. Vengono proposte alcune congetture al testo. We try to show that the "Carmen de bello Actiaco" (PHerc 817) was composed in the Neronian (if not the Vespasian) age and not in the Augustan age, as is generally believed. It also tries to show that it is not of an anti-Augustan trend. Some conjectures are proposed to the text.
