Esta tesis tiene por objeto el estudio del legado artístico del director y productor cinematográfico Clarence Brown (1890-1987), quien desarrolló su actividad desde 1915 hasta 1953, primero en Fort Lee, New Jersey, y posteriormente en Hollywood. Su corpus fílmico, por lo tanto, comprende parte del cine “silente” y “sonoro” norteamericano. Una serie di documentari, perlopiù regie collettive dal taglio politico e militante, con l’eccezione del cortometraggio Nostalgia di protezione. Il successo di Un altro mondo è possibile, il film sul G8 di Genova del 2001. L’addio definitivo, e il simbolico passaggio del testimone con suo figlio Marco. Esiste un “lascito” cinematografico del regista? L’influenza sul cinema americano contemporaneo, dalla New Hollywood in poi, e qualche equivoco. Alcuni possibili “eredi”, in Italia e all’estero.

International audience; This article focuses on the representation of Frenchness in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and Roger Avary's Killing Zoe, which were both released in 1994 and made by directors who regularly collaborated at the time. The treatment of Frenchness is different in both films, Pulp Fiction containing several anecdotal references and one French character, while Killing Zoe takes place in France with an almost exclusively European cast.
