Psychometric properties of the measure of achieved capabilities in homeless services

2023

Abstract Background Purposeful participation in personally meaningful life tasks, enjoyment of positive reciprocal relationships, and opportunities to realize one’s potential are growth-related aspects of a meaningful life that should be considered important dimensions of recovery from homelessness. The extent to which homeless services support individuals to achieve the capabilities they need to become who they want to be and do what they want to do is, in turn, an important indicator of their effectiveness. In this study, we developed a measure of achieved capabilities (MACHS) for use in homeless services settings, and assessed its construct and concurrent validity. Methods We analysed da…

El projecte Rehoboth: una anàlisi de discursos narratius de les persones sense llar en temps de crisi

2014

This project is based on the perspective of qualitative research and social action, attempting to approach the world of homelessness in times of crisis. Its aim is to work in a triple approach: firstly to analyze situations of fragility and vulnerability that exist in Spanish society today, and how they can affect the circumstances of homelessness; secondly, to present a project that responds to the needs and care of homeless people through a social initiative based on participation, solidarity and volunteerism: the Rehoboth project; thirdly, to analyze and describe the narrative accounts of the people involved in this situation, by reflecting the circumstances that contribute to weakening …

Exploring the application of the navigation model with people experiencing homelessness: a scoping review

2022

People experiencing homelessness are known to be at risk of disproportionately poor health outcomes and often face barriers in accessing healthcare. Patient navigation (PN) has been identified as a way to address health disparities and engage underserved populations with healthcare services . This scoping review aims to understand how PN models have been utilized with people experiencing homelessness and other comparable populations to date and more specifically identify (a) the defining features, (b) the barriers and facilitators in implementation, and (c) the outcomes associated with PN models. Database searches were conducted in Web of Science, PubMed and SCOPUS on 15th June 2021 and 21 …

Understanding the health care pattern of homeless children through their residential journey

2021

2018

Recent social housing programme reforms in Southern European Countries emphasise homeless involvement in the public discussion about planning and the delivery of housing. Experiences in a new social housing Italian programme and recent studies on the subject (Viglianisi, 2014; Laino and Vitale, 2015; Lo Piccolo and Giampino, 2016) reveal a number of obstacles for what concerns homeless participation in social housing programmes. This article critically assesses Arnstein’s ladder in relation to the institutionalization of homeless participation in the new social housing Italian programme "Multi-fund National Operational Programme Metropolitan Cities 2014-2020", on evidence from the case stud…
