Interesterification of rapeseed oil catalyzed by tin octoate

The interesterification of rapeseed oil was performed for the first time by using tin octoate as Lewis acid homogeneous catalysts and methyl or ethyl acetate as acyl acceptors in a batch reactor, within the temperature range 393e483 K. The yields in fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE) and triacetin (TA) after 20 h of reaction time increased from 8% and 2%eto 61% and 22%, respectively, when the reaction temperature increased from423 to 483 K. An optimum value of 40 for the acyl acceptor to oil molar ratio was found to be necessary to match good fatty acid alkyl ester yields with high enough reaction rate. Synthetic protocols for the palladium-catalyzed arylation of various linear and cyclic polyamines and polyoxapolyamines has been worked out. Pd(0) and Pd(II) complexes with such phosphine ligands as dppf, BINAP, PPF-OMe, P(tBu) 3 , 2-ditert-butylphosphino- 1,1'-biphenyl have been explored in the catalytic amination reactions. Monoamination of chloro-, bromo-, and iodoarenes with di-, tri-, and tetraamines have been carried out, condi- tions for di- and polyarylation of linear polyamines have been elaborated. The anionic chelating ligand [1,1'-(PPh 2 ) 2 -3,3'-Co(1,2-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 ) 2 ] - has been synthesized from [3,3'-Co(1,2-C 2 B 4 H 1 1 ) 2 ] - in very good yield in a one-pot process with an easy work-up procedure. The coordinating ability of this ligand has been studied with Group 11 metal ions (Ag, Au) and with transition-metal ions (Pd, Rh). The two dicarbollide halves of the [1,1'-(PPh 2 ) 2 -3,3'-Co(1,2-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 ) 2 ] - ligand can swing about one axis in a manner analogous to the constituent parts of BINAP and ferrocenyl phosphine derivatives. The complex [NH4]2[WVIO2{O2CC(S)Ph2}2] is the first example of a non-dithiolene tungsten complex capable of oxidising benzoin to benzil in methanol; the reduced complex product formed, presumably a monomeric WVIO species, was reoxidised with nitrate ions, regenerating the starting WVIO2 complex which then acts as a true homogeneous catalyst.

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition reactions can be considered a powerful synthetic tool in the building of heterocyclic rings, with applications in different fields. In this review we focus on the synthesis of biologically active compounds possessing the 1,2,3-triazole core through 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions. The 1,2,3-triazole skeleton can be present as a single disubstituted ring, as a linker between two molecules, or embedded in a polyheterocycle. A new mu-oxo diiron(III) complex of the lithium salt of the pyridine-based unsymmetrical ligand 3-[(3-{[bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]methyl}-2-hydroxy-5-methylbenzyl)(pyridin2-ylmethyl)amino] propanoate (LiDPCPMPP), [Fe-2(mu-O)(LiDPCPMPP)(2)](ClO4)(2), has been synthesized and characterized. The ability of the complex to catalyze oxidation of several alkanes and alkenes has been investigated by using CH3COOH/H2O2 (1:1) as an oxidative system. Direct arylation of heterocycles: the performances of ferrocene-based polyphosphane ligands in palladium-catalyzed C-H bond activation

International audience; The palladium-catalyzed direct arylation of alkylated- furan, thiophene, and thiazole and benzoxazole heterocycles with electronically and sterically deactivated bromoarenes was selectively and efficiently promoted by ferrocenyl polyphosphanes. In this C[BOND]H bond activation reaction of heteroaromatics, the performances of polydentate di-, tri-, and tetraphosphane ligands were compared, showing that the triphosphane 1,1′,2-tris(diphenylphosphino)-4-tert-butylferrocene 3 was the most effective for the coupling. The introduction of more electron-donating (iPr) or electron-withdrawing (furyl) groups on the phosphorus atoms did not improve the ligand performances. The …
Assessment of Catalysis by Arene‐Ruthenium Complexes Containing Phosphane or NHC Groups bearing Pendant Conjugated Diene Systems

Two p-cymene-ruthenium complexes 1 and 2 were isolated in high yields by treating the [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2 dimer with new hybrid phosphane- or NHC-linked diene ligands. Both complexes were fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy, and the molecular structure of the ruthenium–p-cymene complex 1, containing the phosphane–diene ligand system, was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The catalytic activities of both compounds were probed in atom-transfer radical addition (ATRA) and polymerization (ATRP), in the cyclopropanation of olefins, in the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene, and in the synthesis of enol esters from hex-1-yne and 4-acetoxybenzoic acid.
A Next‐Generation Air‐Stable Palladium(I) Dimer Enables Olefin Migration and Selective C−C Coupling in Air

Abstract We report a new air‐stable PdI dimer, [Pd(μ‐I)(PCy2 tBu)]2, which triggers E‐selective olefin migration to enamides and styrene derivatives in the presence of multiple functional groups and with complete tolerance of air. The same dimer also triggers extremely rapid C−C coupling (alkylation and arylation) at room temperature in a modular and triply selective fashion of aromatic C−Br, C−OTf/OFs, and C−Cl bonds in poly(pseudo)halogenated arenes, displaying superior activity over previous PdI dimer generations for substrates that bear substituents ortho to C−OTf.
