A Primer on Carnot Groups: Homogenous Groups, Carnot-Carathéodory Spaces, and Regularity of Their Isometries

AbstractCarnot groups are distinguished spaces that are rich of structure: they are those Lie groups equipped with a path distance that is invariant by left-translations of the group and admit automorphisms that are dilations with respect to the distance. We present the basic theory of Carnot groups together with several remarks.We consider them as special cases of graded groups and as homogeneous metric spaces.We discuss the regularity of isometries in the general case of Carnot-Carathéodory spaces and of nilpotent metric Lie groups.

Do social enterprises walk the talk? Assessing microfinance performances with mission statements

We study mission drift in social enterprises by examining whether these organizations stick to the actual mission enshrined in their mission statements. We use data from microfinance organizations (MFOs), a homogeneous group of social enterprises which have been scrutinized—and sometimes criticized—for mission drift. We focus on three publicly recognized and non-mutually-exclusive microfinance social missions identified by previous studies: poverty alleviation, women's empowerment, and rural financial inclusion. Twitter publics have become consolidated research objects. The main aim of this article is to make a contribution to this research current by analysing the social conditions that gave shape to the hashtag #primaveravalenciana. In order to do this, this study shall follow an analysis of the early tweets giving shape to this phenomenon. This approach shall stablish a participant's typology, identifying the most influent actors and pursuying a content analysis of relevant micro-messages which pushed forward the hashtag's viral expansion in the next few days. Priming in word stem completion tasks: comparison with previous results in word fragment completion tasks

This study investigates priming in an implicit Word Stem Completion (WSC) task. A total of 305 participants performed a WSC task in two phases (study and test). The test phase included 63 unique-solution stems and 63 multiple-solution stems. After confirming the presence of priming (mean = 0.22), analysis revealed that it was stronger in the case of multiple-solution stems, indicating that the stems were not a homogeneous group of stimuli. Thus, further analyses were performed only for the data of the unique-solution stems.
