Le personnage houellebecquien dans le monde décadent
2022
Michel Houellebecq in his novels Platform (2001), Map and territory (2010) and Submission (2015) shows the struggles of a man trying to find his place in the modern world. Author’s alter egos – writer, painter, clerk of the Ministry of Culture, researcher in literary studies, witness a deep crisis that heralds the end of Europe. Unbridled consumption, clumsy journalists, crisis of democracy and Church’s institution are leading to the collapse of the old world. The prospect of being absorbed by Muslims, led by an extremely skilled politician, confirms Houellebecq’s talent, arousing anxiety and opposition.
Il romanzo come fine. Per una lettura comparata delle opere di Walter Siti e Michel Houellebecq
2019
· The Novel as an End. A Comparative Study of the Works of Walter Siti and Michel Houellebecq · This essay questions the possibility of a comparative study of Siti and Houellebecq’s works. It identifies a point of contact in the common representation of the End as a preferred lens for the study of the individual: both authors represent contemporary society from a strong apocalyptic point of view. The relationships between the two authors are analyzed starting from the recognition of three thematic areas: the link between sex and money in the representation of desire; the disappearance of a religious horizon, followed by the most total nihilism; and a deliberately immoralist way of narrating.

The research corpus comprises seven Michel Houellebecq’s novels written originally in French and their Italian and Polish versions. The theoretical part of the paper aims to present phraseotranslation and phraseotraductol-ogy, which are the new subbranches in phraseology.
