A clinical staging model for bipolar disorder: longitudinal approach

AbstractBipolar disorder (BD) has been identified as a life-course illness with different clinical manifestations from an at-risk to a late stage, supporting the assumption that it would benefit from a staging model. In a previous study, we used a clustering approach to stratify 224 patients with a diagnosis of BD into five clusters based on clinical characteristics, functioning, cognition, general health, and health-related quality of life. One may prefer to observe than to ask direct question, to avoid interferences with cognitive processes; or because individuals may not directly answer a question. This is specially the case for infants and young children, who can not express themselves verbally in a reliable way. We will describe in particular how to study infants and children sensory perceptions (taste and olfaction in particular) and eating behavior, focusing in particular on the analysis of facial expressions.

Contextual Action Theory (CAT) is a conceptual, methodological, and practical framework that is consistent with these calls. Kinematics of perceived dyadic coordination in dance

We investigated the relationships between perceptions of similarity and interaction in spontaneously dancing dyads, and movement features extracted using novel computational methods. We hypothesized that dancers’ movements would be perceived as more similar when they exhibited spatially and temporally comparable movement patterns, and as more interactive when they spatially oriented more towards each other. Pairs of dancers were asked to move freely to two musical excerpts while their movements were recorded using optical motion capture.
