AbstractThe social responsibility of universities is to contribute to solving the ‘wicked problems’ facing humanity, including climate change, poverty, conflicts and the lack of energy resources. Interdisciplinarity is an approach that enables solving these problems and helps higher education institutions become more socially responsible while meeting the requirements of their stakeholders. Ilse Langner's drama "Iphigenie und Orest (1977 manuscript) pivots on a historical sequence of events: war, rescue and exile, merciless revenge after the war. Why is the plot set in a Greek mythological setting? The use of myth considerably extends the frame of references, which in turn necessarily surpasses documentary correctness. The dramatist already provided a world model to the dramatist of the Atreidean myth, which focuses on basic questions of violence-stricken human existence (while Goethe formed Iphigenie as a model of humanitarianism that overcomes violence). Langner's Anti-Iphigenie shows the spiral of violence as a challenge for the post-idealist 20th century.
