Complexes of Glycolic Acid with Nitrogen Isolated in Argon Matrices. I : Structures and Thermal Effects

2019

Molecular complexes between glycolic acid and nitrogen were studied in a low-temperature argon matrix with FTIR spectroscopy, and supported by MP2 and BLYPD3 calculations. The calculations indicate 11 and 10 stable complex structures at the MP2 and BLYPD3 levels of theories, respectively. However, only one hydrogen-bonded complex structure involving the most stable SSC conformer of glycolic acid was found experimentally, where the nitrogen molecule is bound with the carboxylic OH group of the SSC conformer. The complex shows a rich site structure variation upon deposition of the matrix in different temperatures and upon annealing experiments, which provide interesting prospects for site-sel…

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of (2E)-3-(3-bromo-4-fluorophenyl)-1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one

2018

The title compound is constructed from two aromatic rings (3-bromo-4-fluorophenyl and 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl), which are linked by a C=C—C(=O)—C enone bridge and form a dihedral angle of 17.91 (17)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds enclosing rings of (14) graph-set motif to form layers parallel to (10).

Wpływ składu chemicznego i mikrostruktury na odporność stali na niszczenie wodorowe

2014

Highly Active and Stable NiCuMo Electrocatalyst Supported on 304 Stainless Steel Porous Transport Layer for Hydrogen Evolution in Alkaline Water Elec…

2023

Several functionalized porous transport layers with Pt-free electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline conditions, based on Ni, Cu, and Mo, are prepared through electrodeposition onto a 304 stainless steel mesh. Morphological characterization confirms the fabrication of electrodes with high electrochemical surface active area due to the formation of hierarchical nanostructures. Mo presence into the electrocatalysts increases the activity toward the hydrogen evolution reaction. The optimization of electrodeposition process leads to the preparation of highly active NiCuMo electrocatalyst that exhibits near zero onset overpotential and overpotentials of 15 and 113 mV at 10 an…

Role of elastic and electronic interactions in trapping of hydrogen by impurities in transition metals

1985

The interplay between the lattice distortion and the electronic contributions to the trapping of migrating hydrogen isotopes by substitutional impurities is investigated. We use a comprehensive calculational scheme incorporating (i) the effective-medium theory for the electronic interaction, (ii) the lattice Green’s function for elastic coupling, and (iii) the hydrogen quantum motion. The calculations for Ti and Cr impurities in V host show that lattice strain effects dominate. Cr, which otherwise provides an electronic trap site, does not induce trapping when elastic effects are incorporated. The situation in the case of Ti is just the reverse. We find no isotope dependence of the binding …

Hydrothermal liquefaction of sewage sludge: towards the effects of transition metals in the presence of homogeneous hydrogen producers

2022

Waste carbonaceous matrices, such as sewage sludge (SS) seem to have a great potential, because they are namely costless matrices compared to the microalgae and hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) can be considered an interesting route to dispose and valorize them [1-5]. However, SS are characterized by high amount of non-biogenic fractions, such as plastics, salts and metals. In particular SS contains a high amount of inorganics [5], such as Al, Ba, Ca, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, S, Ti, Zn, Si which are distributed in the products at the end of the reaction. The presence of heavy metals represent a big challenge for the implementation of HTL on the industrial scale as they can affect pr…

Efficacy of Hydrogen Purification and Cosmetic Acids in the Treatment of Acne Vulgaris: A Preliminary Report

2022

Acne and skin lesions that appear in its course deteriorate the quality of life of patients, cause depression and the emergence of suicidal thoughts. Cosmetic treatments can have a positive effect on improving skin condition by cleaning up skin eruptions, thus improving the well-being of affected people. Hydrogen purification is a treatment that uses alkaline water generated by a device, which reduces sebum from the surface of the epidermis. This is a novel treatment that has recently been introduced to beauty salons. On the other hand, cosmetic acids have been used for many years for treating people with acne vulgaris and give spectacular results in terms of improving the skin condition. I…

The use of hydrogen purification and mixture of cosmetics acids, and the influence on acne skin parameters: a case report

2022

Background: Acne vulgaris is a common disease which causes physical and mental ailments that are associated with a significantly reduced quality of life. Contemporary cosmetology is looking for innovative and effective methods of treating acne vulgaris. The synergistic action of acids and hydrogen purification has a positive effect on the reduction of sebum secretion and thus the amount of skin eruptions. The aim of the study : To check the effectiveness of hydrogen purification treatment combined with topical acids for the treatment of acne vulgaris. Case report: The participant of this study is a 20-year-old female, struggling with acne vulgaris for 5 years. She has a problem with large s…

Acne vulgaris and the most popular and new cosmetological treatments

2023

Introduction: Acne vulgaris is a disease that has an enormous impact on appearance of the skin of the patients and also on their quality of life. Long-term dermatological treatment, which often lasts years, and disease relapses contribute to the occurrence of low self-esteem and depression. Acne is one of the 10 most common diseases in the world and the most common inflammatory skin disease. Many methods of dermatological treatment that bring very good results are available. However, educating people with acne on how to take care of their skin on a daily basis to minimize the bleak effects of the disease is an extremely important element. Contemporary cosmetology creates an environment for …

A Matrix Model For An Energy Management System Based On Multi-Carrier Energy Hub Approach

2015

The INGRID FP7 European co-funded project studies several methodologies concerning hydrogen production and storage, aiming to provide services to electricity system operators for suitably balancing electrical supply and demand. In such a context, the problem of integrating different carriers into a single multi-hub optimiser represents a challenging topic for the research. This paper depicts the Energy Management System (EMS) of the plant which will be developed and built as a prototype of the INGRID system. The approach followed for the EMS design and development takes the cue from the matrix model presented in the rest of the paper, as well as the general optimisation problem formulation …
