First observation of the isospin violating decayJ/ψ→ΛΣ¯0+c.c.

2012

Using a sample of (225.2 +/- 2.8) x 10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector, we present results of a study of J/psi -> gamma Lambda(Lambda) over bar and report the first observation of the isospin violating decay J/psi -> Lambda(Sigma) over bar (0) + c.c., in which (Sigma) over bar (0) decays to gamma (Lambda) over bar. The measured branching fractions are B(J/psi -> (Lambda) over bar Sigma(0)) = (1.46 +/- 0.11 +/- 0.12) x 10(-5) and B(J/psi -> Lambda(Sigma) over bar (0)) = (1.37 +/- 0.12 +/- 0.11) x 10(-5). We search for Lambda(1520) -> gamma Lambda decay, and find no evident signal, and an upper limit for the product branching fraction B(J/psi -> Lambda(Lambda) over bar (152…

Polarization effects in the cascade decayΛb→Λ(→pπ−)+J/ψ(→ℓ+ℓ−)in the covariant confined quark model

2013

We calculate the invariant and helicity amplitudes for the nonleptonic decay ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Lambda}+J/\ensuremath{\psi}$, $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ in the covariant confined quark model. We discuss joint angular decay distributions in the cascade decay ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Lambda}(\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})+J/\ensuremath{\psi}$, $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)(\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}})$ and calculate some of the asymmetry parameters that characterize the joint angular decay distribution. We confirm expectations from th…

Chiral approach to antikaons- andp-wave interactions in dense nuclear matter

2006

The properties of the antikaons in nuclear matter are investigated from a chiral unitary approach which incorporates the $s$- and $p$-waves of the $\overline{K}N$ interaction. To obtain the in-medium meson-baryon amplitudes we include, in a self-consistent way, Pauli blocking effects, meson self-energies corrected by nuclear short-range correlations and baryon binding potentials. We pay special attention to investigating the validity of the on-shell factorization, showing that it cannot be applied in the evaluation of the in-medium corrections to the $p$-wave amplitudes. In nuclear matter at saturation energy, the \ensuremath{\Lambda} and \ensuremath{\Sigma} develop an attractive potential …

Observation of Coulomb-Assisted Nuclear Bound State of Ξ−–N14 System

2021

In an emulsion-counter hybrid experiment performed at J-PARC, a Ξ^{-} absorption event was observed which decayed into twin single-Λ hypernuclei. Kinematic calculations enabled a unique identification of the reaction process as Ξ^{-}+^{14}N→_{Λ}^{10}Be+_{Λ}^{5}He. For the binding energy of the Ξ^{-} hyperon in the Ξ^{-}-^{14}N system a value of 1.27±0.21  MeV was deduced. The energy level of Ξ^{-} is likely a nuclear 1p state which indicates a weak ΞN-ΛΛ coupling.

O(αs)corrections to the correlator of finite mass baryon currents

2000

We present analytical next-to-leading order results for the correlator of baryonic currents at the three-loop level with one finite mass quark. We obtain the massless and the HQET limit of the correlator from the general formula as particular cases. We also give explicit expressions for the moments of the spectral density.

Production of excited double hypernuclei via Fermi breakup of excited strange systems

2011

Precise spectroscopy of multi-strange hypernuclei provides a unique chance to explore the hyperon-hyperon interaction. In the present work we explore the production of excited states in double hypernuclei following the micro-canonical break-up of an initially excited double hypernucleus which is created by the absorption and conversion of a stopped $\Xi^{-}$ hyperon. Rather independent on the spectrum of possible excited states in the produced double hypernuclei the formation of excited states dominates in our model. For different initial target nuclei which absorb the $\Xi^-$, different double hypernuclei nuclei dominate. Thus the ability to assign the various observable $\gamma$-transitio…

Performance studies of the P¯ANDA planar GEM-tracking detector in physics simulations

2018

Abstract The P ¯ ANDA experiment will be installed at the future facility for antiproton and ion research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany, to study events from the annihilation of protons and antiprotons. The P ¯ ANDA detectors can cover a wide physics program about baryon spectroscopy and nucleon structure as well as the study of hadrons and hypernuclear physics including the study of excited hyperon states. One very specific feature of most hyperon ground states is the long decay length of several centimeters in the forward direction. The central tracking detectors of the P ¯ ANDA setup are not sufficiently optimized for these long decay lengths. Therefore, using a set of the planar GEM-trac…

Λ(1405)production in theπ−p→K0πΣreaction

2003

We discuss the mechanisms that lead to $\ensuremath{\Lambda}(1405)$ production in the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{0}\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\Sigma}$ reaction. The problem has gained renewed interest after different works converge to the conclusion that there are two resonances around the region of $1400\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\text{MeV}$, rather than one, and that they couple differently to the $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\Sigma}$ and $\overline{K}N$ channels. We look at the dynamics of that reaction and find two mechanisms which eventually filter each one of the resonances, leading to very different shapes of the $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\S…

Chiral unitary approach to the K^- deuteron scattering length

2000

Starting from a recent model where the Kbar N amplitudes are evaluated from the chiral Lagrangians using a coupled channel unitary method, we evaluate here the scattering length for K^- deuteron scattering. We find that the double scattering contribution is very large compared to the impulse approximation and that the charge exchange contribution of this rescattering is as large as the sequential K^- scattering on the two nucleons. Higher order rescattering corrections are evaluated using coupled channels with K^- and Kbar^0 within the integral form of the fixed centre approximation to the Faddeev equations. The higher order corrections involving intermediate pions and hyperons are found ne…
