Diversity of Clinically Relevant Outcomes Resulting from Hypofractionated Radiation in Human Glioma Stem Cells Mirrors Distinct Patterns of Transcrip…
2020
Hypofractionated radiotherapy is the mainstay of the current treatment for glioblastoma. However, the efficacy of radiotherapy is hindered by the high degree of radioresistance associated with glioma stem cells comprising a heterogeneous compartment of cell lineages differing in their phenotypic characteristics, molecular signatures, and biological responses to external signals. Reconstruction of radiation responses in glioma stem cells is necessary for understanding the biological and molecular determinants of glioblastoma radioresistance. To date, there is a paucity of information on the longitudinal outcomes of hypofractionated radiation in glioma stem cells. This study addresses long-te…
EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy continuation with high-dose hypofractionated radiotherapy in EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) p…
2020
e21580 Background: EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) represent the standard first-line therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with activating EGFR mutations. However, despite initial marked responses, tumors invariably develop acquired resistance to TKIs. Oligoprogression is commonly observed during treatment with oncogene-directed therapies, including EGFR TKIs, and refers to patients who experience disease progression only in limited sites as a result of heterogeneous mechanisms of resistance. The use of local ablative treatments for these resistant lesions may extend the duration of TKI therapy and potentially improve long-term disease control and survival…
Moderate hypofractionated helical tomotherapy for localized prostate cancer: preliminary report of an observational prospective study.
2019
Objective: To report preliminary findings of a phase II study exploring the clinical outcomes of moderate hypofractionated radiotherapy performed with helical tomotherapy (HT) using computed tomography–magnetic resonance imaging–based planning for localized prostate cancer. Methods: The phase II prospective study received ethics approval from our institutional ethics committee. A dose of 60 Gy/20 fractions for low–intermediate risk prostate cancer by means of HT was explored. Primary endpoints of the study were acute and late gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicities. Secondary endpoints were quality of life and biochemical-free survival. Results: A total of 35 patients were i…
68 ga-dotatoc pet/ct follow up after single or hypofractionated gamma knife icon radiosurgery for meningioma patients
2021
68Ga-DOTATOC represents a useful tool in tumor contouring for radiosurgery planning. We present a case series of patients affected by meningiomas on who we performed 68Ga-DOTATOC positron emission tomography (PET)/CT pre-operatively, a subgroup of which also underwent a post-operative 68Ga-DOTATOC PET/CT to evaluate the standardized uptake value (SUV) modification after Gamma Knife ICON treatment in single or hypofractionated fractions. Twenty patients were enrolled/included in this study: ten females and ten males. The median age was 52 years (range 33–80). The median tumor diameter was 3.68 cm (range 0.12–22.26 cm), and the median pre-radiotherapy maximum SUV value was 11 (range 2.3–92). …
