This thesis will study the construction of fantasy in autofictional writing from a psychoanalytical perspective, focusing on Serge Doubrovsky’s Fils, Alain Robbe-Grillet’s Le Miroir qui revient and Hervé Guibert’s A l’ami qui ne m’a pas sauvé la vie. Taking up a phrase by Alain Robbe-Grillet’s, this study will rely on two different axes to inform autofictional discourse: firstly, the autobiography writer is bent on “creating an own statue of himself” while, on the other hand, the autofiction writer sets out to “project an image out of himself”, as it were. There are two interpretations of Peter the Great’s motives for refusing to land on the Swedish island of Schonen in historiography: that the tsar feared unforeseen military risks and that he did not trust his allies, Denmark and Great Britain. In this article, the author attempts to analyse in a more detailed way the reasons and consequences for the mistrust in the Northern Alliance by looking at communications by Baron Friedrich Ernst von Cnyphausen, the Prussian ambassador in Copenhagen. It is shown that the Russophobic hysteria which grasped the Danish royal court in September 1716 looks completely irrational when we consider parallel attitudes in the Prussian court. The paper intends to investigate the effects of a singular plot, which occurred in the century of Darwin, between photography, psychiatry and literary invention. In particular, the object of investigation is the narrative work of Luigi Capuana - from Profili di donne (1877) to the Marquis of Roccaverdina (1901) - in which the reflections of the application of photography can be seen both from the unknown sphere of human passions, women in particular, both to the occult world of the spirit that lives beyond death. Matti Kuhna tutki väitöskirjatyössään keskisuomalaisen kirjailijan Marko Tapion pääteosta Arktinen hysteria (1967, 1968). Kuhna havaitsi, että teos on modernistinen vastine Väinö Linnan Pohjantähti-trilogialle (1959–1962) ja Tuntemattomalle sotilaalle (1954). Kuhnan mukaan Arktisen hysterian merkitys nykylukijalle ja aikalaislukijalle avautuu olennaisella tavalla, jos sitä luetaan Pohjantähti-trilogian ja Tuntemattoman sotilaan vastateoksena.
