Bacterial infections represent an important drawback in the orthopaedic field, as they can develop either immediately after surgery procedures or after some years. Specifically, in case of implants, they are alleged to be troublesome as their elimination often compels a surgical removal of the infected implant. A possible solution strategy could involve a local coating of the implant by an antibacterial system, which requires to be easily applicable, biocompatible and able to provide the desired release kinetics for the selected antibacterial drug. Abstract Pegylated interferons (PEG-IFNs) in combination with ribavirin represent the most recent advance in the treatment of patients withchronic hepatitis C (CHC): two large clinical trials have shown a superior efficacy in clearing HCV in almost 60% of treated naive patients. Responses to antiviral treatment of CHC vary according to both viral and host factors. Managing patients with CHC infection requires individualised treatment strategies to optimise outcomes. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt Vārtājas ledajkušanas ūdeņu drenāžas ielejas ģeomorfoloģisko un ģeoloģisko uzbūvi un attīstību, noskaidrot, kādā deglaciācijas posmā ieleja ir izveidota, un klasificēt, kāda tipa ielejai pieder Vārtājas ieleja. Darba autors, izstrādājot bakalaura darbu, lauku pētījumu ietvaros izveidoja 4 atsegumus, kuros tika veikta fāciju aprakstīšana un trijos atsegumos tika veikti slāņu mērījumi. Iegūtie slāņu mērījumu dati ļāva interpretēt ledājkušanas ūdeņu straumju virzienus. In most patients, chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection persists despite antiviral treatment with interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) and ribavirin. The aim of the study was to determine whether HCV could evade cellular immune responses through mutations within T cell epitopes. Viral sequences flanking four major CTL epitopes within the HCV core and envelope regions were analyzed by PCR amplification, cloning and sequencing in seven HLA-A2 positive HCV patients before, during and after antiviral therapy. Enterobacteriaceae dzimta ir plaši pārstāvēta mikroorganismu dzimta, kuru veido medicīniski nozīmīgas gramnegatīvas nūjiņas. Šīs dzimtas pārstāvji izraisa infekciju saslimšanas gan vispārējā populācijā, gan medicīnas iestādēs (nozokomiālas infekcijas), skarot kā veselus cilvēkus, tā cilvēkus jau ar esošu saslimšanu. Tās pārstāvji- E.coli un K.pneumoniae, ir vieni no biežākajamiem smagu nozokomiālu infekciju izraisītājiem pasaulē. Arvien pieaug Enterobacteriaceae rezistence pret antibakteriālajiem līdzekļiem, tai skaitā pret paplašināta spektra beta laktāmu antibiotikām. K.pneumoniae ir viena no biežākajām nozokomiālo infekciju izraisītājām visā pasaulē. Visbiežāk tā ierosina infekcijas intensīvās terapijas pacientiem, pacientiem pēc apdegumiem, transplantācijām un jaundzimušajiem. K.pneumoniae ir cilvēka normālās mikrofloras sastāvā, tā bieži ierosina infekcijas pacientiem ar imūnsupresiju.
