Non-abusing mothers’ formal support needs after child sexual abuse disclosure : the case of North Cyprus

This article investigates the formal support needs of mothers whose child has been sexually abused. Previous research has focused mostly on the provision of support for abused children to the relative neglect of mothers’ support needs. Here, formal support refers to resources and services from organisations, professionals and authorities, with a specific focus on social welfare services. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin, miten lapsia ja vanhuksia kuvataan toimijuuden näkökulmasta neljän suurimman puolueen eduskuntavaaliohjelmissa. Tutkimusmenetelmänä hyödynnettiin kriittistä diskurssianalyysiä. Turning experience into expertise : technologies of the self in Finnish participatory social policy

This article investigates the micro-level practices of subject-construction in Finnish participatory social policy. Through a governmental ethnography on projects that invite former beneficiaries to become ‘experts-by-experience’ in social welfare organizations, I discern the possibilities for freedom in the participants’ self-construction. By making use of Michel Foucault’s conceptual tools of care of the self and confession, I illustrate how, contrary to the projects’ emancipatory promise of providing the service users the freedom to reconstruct themselves, the projects entail practices that curb the participants’ way of ‘knowing themselves’. Creating ‘Communities of Practice’ to Enhance Ecosocial Work : A Comparison between Finland and Australia

Abstract This article reports on findings from a small qualitative study in two industrialised countries—Finland and Australia, which aimed to engage social work practitioners in ‘communities of practice’ to collaboratively explore ecosocial work practice. Using a Participatory Action Research approach, a series of workshops were established to plan, implement and evaluate ecosocial work interventions. Data were gathered using qualitative pre- and post-surveys to examine changes to practice, including similarities and differences between Finnish and Australian practitioners. Le riforme del 2005 - 2006 e del 2009 hanno dato, probabilmente, luogo ad una evoluzione concettuale dell’istituto della sospensione del processo esecutivo, dall’originaria forma “speculare” alle sospensioni del processo di cognizione verso un modello affine ai provvedimenti cautelari anticipatori. L’indagine muove da un esame dei precedenti storici dell’istituto, dal codice di procedura civile del 1865, seguendo la sua evoluzione (anche con riferimento ai progetti di riforma poi abbandonati) fino al codice del 1940 ed alle successive riforme.
