What I say is not necessary what I do: pulses consumption in French adults

2018

International audience; The consumption of pulses in the human diet is considered to have several advantages: from a nutritional point of view, pulses are rich in dietary fibers, complex carbohydrate, minerals/vitamins and an important source of vegetal proteins. They are considered essential to insure food security and support environmental sustainability. Despite these benefits, the consumption of pulses in France has declined over the past decades, dropping from 7.2 kg in 1920 to 1.7 kg/ person per year in 2016. The aim of this study is to understand the representation of pulses among French non-vegetarian consumers, using a direct method (questionnaire) and an indirect method (scenario …

I verbi con particella in siciliano antico

2018

The verb-particle constructions are formed by a verbal base (especially of motion) and a locative or direction marking particle and exist both in standard Italian than in regional varieties of Italian and dialects. In particular, the conspicuous presence of these verbs in the northern dialects has led to the hypothesis of their entrance into Italian through these dialects (cf. Schwarze 1985; Simone 1996). Nevertheless, more recent studies have demonstrated that the verb-particle constructions also existed in ancient Italian (cf. Iacobini 2009; Masini 2006 e 2012) and in other southern dialectal varieties, i.e. Sicilian (cf. Amenta 2008). Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyse the pr…

The effects of two-way communication and chat service usage on consumer attitudes in the e-commerce retailing sector

2018

In e-commerce retailing (e-retailing), where competitors are only one click away and prices are easy to compare, providing superior customer service and reciprocal communication via a company’s website are important aspects of attracting and retaining customers. One increasingly popular solution to improve customer service is a “live chat” interface that allows consumers to have real-time conversations online with customer service agents. As the literature on the impacts of real-time communication via live chat is currently very limited, this study develops and tests a model that demonstrates the moderating effects of a chat service on the relationship between two-way communication (i.e., a…

Digital Activism in Russia: The Evolution and Forms of Online Participation in an Authoritarian State

2020

AbstractThis chapter describes how digitalization has affected activism in Russia by tracing the evolution, particularity, and the most visible forms of online activism in the context of the increasingly authoritarian Russian state. It discusses online activism in relation to “connective action” and illustrates it with two examples of contentious political activism: the anti-corruption campaign led by Alexei Navalny and the struggle to protect online communication from state surveillance by the Telegram messenger service. In addition, the chapter presents examples of Russian activism, which do not directly challenge the Kremlin.
