Isometric contractions of the adductor pollicis muscle were studied in healthy subjects and patients with myotonic dystrophy after single and double stimuli of the ulnar nerve using a wide range of interstimulus intervals (ISI, 0.4-180 ms). In healthy subjects, the force contributed by a second stimulus was greater than the single twitch force being maximal (mean + 140%) at 12-ms ISI. In myotonic dystrophy, the force contributed by the second stimulus was (relative to a reduced twitch amplitude) increased (mean + 204%) with a maximum at 4.8-ms ISI. In the past, research on personality in borderline personality disorder (BPD) used primarily questionnaires suggesting heightened neuroticism in BPD. Self-report instruments inform about the conscious or explicit self-concept. BPD patients are known to show negative distortion with exaggeration of negative affect in the self-report. Neuroticism represents a risk factor for mental disorders. Indirect measures are available that tap into the implicit self-concept of neuroticism. This study placed the phenomenon of college women’s fat talk within response styles theory. We predicted that with increasing trait body dissatisfaction there would be an increase in rumination leading to a greater frequency of fat talk. We also predicted that neuroticism would moderate this mediation pathway, and that these effects would occur over and above body size. A survey was conducted on a convenience sample of 212 college women with a mean age of 22.04 years ( SDage = 2.61). Objectives To evaluate the influence of numerical chromosomal abnormalities on preimplantation embryo development. Methods This study includes 6936 embryos from 1245 women undergoing preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). Indications for aneuploidy screening were: recurrent miscarriages, implantation failure, severe male factor, advanced maternal age, and mixed causes.
