En este artículo presento de forma crítica la propuesta de ética del deporte como «bolsa de virtudes» que elaboran tres autores estadounidenses que son Lumpkin, Stoll y Beller. Dicha propuesta debe entenderse como una manifestación de sustancialismo neoaristotélico en deporte, con una clara influencia de MacIntyre. Mi objetivo es mostrar cómo dicho sustancialismo no es suficiente para una propuesta ética del deporte, por lo que abogo por incorporar algunos de los presupuestos del procedimentalismo ético aplicado al deporte. El IVyF (Strength of Character Inventory, en inglés) es un instrumento de medición de las 24 fortalezas del carácter de la clasificación de Peterson y Seligman (2004). A diferencia de otros cuestionarios homólogos para medir las fortalezas de esa clasificación que están compuestos por decenas de ítems, el IVyF es un instrumento de medición de 24 ítems. Este estudio se enfocó en la validez del IVyF. En primer lugar, el IVyF estuvo asociado a medidas de variables conceptualmente relevantes como satisfacción con la vida, los factores de personalidad del modelo de los Cinco Grandes, y deseabilidad social. El objetivo del estudio es evaluar la virtuosidad percibida en organizaciones escolares y las diferencias por tipo de centro educativo (fiscal, municipal); sexo (mujer, hombre) y rol (estudiantes, docentes). Se trató de un estudio instrumental basado en el análisis de la estructura factorial y la fiabilidad de un cuestionario para evaluar virtudes percibidas en escuelas (VPOE); y, de un estudio descriptivo transversal que analizó diferencias por sexo, rol y tipo de organizaciones escolares con relación a las virtudes percibidas. L'Institut Mèdic Valencià va ser l'impulsor d'una campanya de vacunació antivariòlica gratuïta en la segona meitat del segle XIX mitjançant vacuna humanitzada remesa des d'Anglaterra. Va difondre la vacuna per tota Espanya i va publicar unes acurades estadístiques de les vacunacions practicades en el Boletín del Instituto Médico Valenciano. // . El Instituto Médico Valenciano fue el impulsor de una campaña de vacunación antivariólica gratuita en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX mediante vacuna humanizada remitida desde Inglaterra. Difundió la vacuna por toda España y publicó unas cuidadosas estadísticas de las vacunaciones practicadas en el Boletín del Instituto Médico Valenciano.

Crop loss due to viral diseases is still a major problem for agriculture today. We present a strategy to achieve virus resistance based on the expression of single-chain Fv fragments (scFvs) against a conserved domain in a plant viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), a key enzyme in virus replication. The selected scFvs inhibited complementary RNA synthesis of different plant virus RdRps in vitro and virus replication in planta. Moreover, the scFvs also bound to the RdRp of the distantly related hepatitis C virus. ABSTRACT Studies of the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication cycle have been made possible with the development of subgenomic selectable RNAs that replicate autonomously in cultured cells. In these replicons the region encoding the HCV structural proteins was replaced by the neomycin phosphotransferase gene, allowing the selection of transfected cells that support high-level replication of these RNAs. Subsequent analyses revealed that, within selected cells, HCV RNAs had acquired adaptive mutations that increased the efficiency of colony formation by an unknown mechanism. Studies on the replication of hepatitis C virus (HCV) have been facilitated by the development of selectable subgenomic replicons replicating in the human hepatoma cell line Huh-7 at a surprisingly high level. Analysis of the replicon population in selected cells revealed the occurrence of cell culture-adaptive mutations that enhance RNA replication substantially. To gain a better understanding of HCV cell culture adaptation, we characterized conserved mutations identified by sequence analysis of 26 independent replicon cell clones for their effect on RNA replication. Genome sequence of SeIV-1, a novel virus from the Iflaviridae family infective to Spodoptera exigua

Analysis of the transcriptome of Spodoptera exigua larvae revealed the presence of several ESTs with homology to virus of the order Picornavirales and with the highest similarity to Infectious flacherie virus (Iflaviridae) that infects Bombyx mori larvae. Iflaviridae is a recently defined family of insect-infecting viruses that consist of positive single strand RNA genomes translated into a single polyprotein of around 3000 amino acids long. Using the sequence information derived from the obtained ESTs, we have completed the genomic sequence of this virus. Il saggio, a partire dal progetto della torre Eurosky dello Studio Purini/Thermes, individua le relazioni urbane e indaga le qualità tipo-morfologiche dell'edificio realizzato come elemento di forte identità in un più ampio contesto che – messo a punto in un masterplan – definisce l’intera area di progetto dell’Europarco Castellaccio di Roma. Il progetto è una struttura metodologicamente fondata su scelte e considerazioni di carattere relazionale, geometrico e funzionale, che evidenziano punti di forza, di debolezza e di tolleranza capaci di modificare, anche nell’ambito coerente di riferimento di un possibile scenario di riconversione, l’intera area a ridosso dell’EUR.
