Much is known about the mental and physical aspects of color vision. Color vision, therefore, is a paradigm well suited for the discussion of the relationship between mind and matter. The aim of the present chapter is to support the proposition that mental affairs cannot be adequately understood if their neurobiological aspects are neglected. Although it is possible to focus on fundamental problems of general relevance when discussing mind and matter, this chapter will deal with specific observations rather than general issues. The standard approach to conceptual understanding in the case of autism uses the distinction of abstract versus concrete thinking. This approach has its benefits but fails to explain all features of language use. This study re-analyzes the English way-construction by having recourse to diverse concepts and tools of Talmy’s cognitive semantics. Whatever next? Predictive brains, situated agents, and the future of cognitive science

In the target article, Andy Clark addresses the question of how a probabilistic predictive coding model of the mind relates to our personal level mental lives. This question, he suggests, is “potentially the most important” (MS46). The question is important indeed, but Clark’s answer fails to capitalize on another possible advantage of this approach. Diagnosis of familial hypercholesterolemia in a large cohort of Italian genotyped hypercholesterolemic patients

Background and aims: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is the most relevant genetic cause of early cardiovascular disease (CVD). FH is suspected when low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels exceed the 95th percentile of the population distribution. Different diagnostic scoring systems have been developed, as the Dutch Lipid Clinic Network (DLCN) score, used worldwide.
