Elliptical Fourier Descriptors for shape retrieval in biological images

The retrieval of information in a standard database can be obtained in different ways and in some cases a number of steps are necessary to extract the sought for information. More difficulties exist when we are looking for a pictorial information in a database. This paper presents a method for finding an image in a biological database based on elliptical Fourier descriptors. Fourier descriptors are considered here as textual information and a distance function is proposed to evaluate the best result. Fourier descriptors and distance function are used to retrieve image in pictorial database.

Just transition is gaining increasing attention. The need to consider social justice in sustainability transitions is finally being acknowledged. Research on this issue has, to date, mainly concentrated on energy systems. In this paper, we examine how the elaboration of dietary transition widens the spectrum of justice questions in sustainability transitions research. We explicate the arising normative questions along the dimensions of distributive, procedural and recognitive justice; widening the considerations further to restorative and cosmopolitan justice. In this commentary to the M.N. v. Belgium case, the authors criticize the three fundamental arguments on which the decision of the European Court of Human Rights is founded: the approach based on ‘originalism’, the approach based on the Courts’ precedents, and the approach based on consequentialism. The Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire for Children (DEBQ-C; van Strien & Oosterveld, 2008) was developed to assess external eating (EXT), emotional eating (EMO), and restriction (RES) in 7- to 12-years-old. Mērķis: Izpētīt, kā dažādas tematiskās fotogrāfijas modulē sāpju noteikšanas sliekšņus, un novērtētu emocionālās fotogrāfijas izmantojot pašnovērtējuma manekenu metodi (SAM). Metodes: 21 sievietei sāpju noteikšanas sliekšņi tika izmērīti ar pakāpeniski pieaugoša sprieguma padevi dalībnieku apakšdelmiem. Rezultāti: Sāpju noteikšanas sliekšņi tika samazināti ar negatīvām valences fotogrāfijām (attēlojot vardarbību, dzīvnieku un cilvēku uzbrukumus, zaudējumus). The aim of the present study was to analyze differences in the emotional processing (valence, arousal, and dominance) of food-related information in patients with eating disorders (ED), patients with obesity, and healthy women. Relationships between burnout and role ambiguity, role conflict and employee absenteeism among health workers

The aim of this research was to analyze the influence of some psychosocial risk factors in the development of burnout and to analyze the influence of this phenomenon on employee absenteeism. The study sample included 142 health care workers. The data analysis included descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression models. The results confirmed the influence of role ambiguity and role conflict on burnout [F (2.139) = 26.720; p < .001], but the influence of burnout on employee absenteeism was not confirmed. However, a significant and positive relationship has been shown between burnout and employee absenteeism (ß = 0.197; p < .05). In conclusion, the findings of this study support the …
